Blouse with spirit being Auteur(s) : Kuna people ( Artist ) Résumé : (Exhibitions) "Patterns Past and Present: Arts of Panama" at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. The creature on this mola blouse has both human and animal features. It appears to be a woman with webbed hands and feet and amphibious limbs, suggesting she is part frog or turtle. The pointed teeth suggest she may be a nia, or demon. Alternatively, she may be a beneficent being, as the xray-like view of the ribcage may be an allusion to the use of turtle bones in healing practices. An adhesive sticker (removed) reads b15.
