Résumé : The slides were taken on collecting trips sponsored by the William L. Bryant Foundation, where books, music and art indigenous to the regions were gathered. They are organized by geographical location.
People standing at the window of a retail store. This building’s walls feature 1960s inspired contemporary art paintings of flowers, text, and a stylized bird. Art paintings on the building’s walls include the following statements “I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet” and “Sock It to Me.” According to the Barbados Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO), "I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet" was registered in Barbados on November 25, 1968. "I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet" was a boutique store in London during the 1960s, which sold secondhand uniforms and military memorabilia. This image also features the store’s memorable sign which was inspired by the famous 1914 military recruitment poster designed by Alfred Leete. The sign and poster features Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener, then Secretary of State for War, pointing at the viewer with the words “Your Country Needs You.” However, this store's sign also features the Union Jack flag behind Lord Kitchener’s image. According CAIPO, The Bornn Bay Rum Co. was registered in Barbados on September 3, 1940. It was a subsidiary of the Bornn Distilling Co. of New York. Bay rum is a type of aftershave lotion made from bay leaves. Automobiles passes a Texaco sign along the street. Slide labeled Barbados Bldg. in Psychedelic Colors.

This image shows a busy Frederick Street in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Many automobiles and people are on the street in front of various retail stores. Some of the retail stores include Y. De Lima & Co. Ltd. (jewelers), W. C. Ross & Co. Ltd. (pharmacy), Bata (shoe store), Pereira’s, and Taurel Appliances. W. C. Ross and Co. Ltd. was established in 1843 by William Clayton Ross on Frederick Street as the Colonial Dispensary. In the far distance, at the end of the street, is the Port of Spain lighthouse. In 1814, Manchester became Jamaica’s newest parish and was named after the Duke of Manchester who was then serving as the Governor of the island. The capital was named Mandeville, after his son. In the background on the left is "S. F. Lyn & Son Ltd. Bargain House" and in the center is the Mandeville Market. Automobiles are parked in the distance. Mandeville Square includes a lawn decorated with palm trees with painted trunks. Walking through the square is a Manchester High School girl dressed in her school uniform, which includes a green dress and a white shirt. Slide labeled Square Mandeville.

This image shows Corn Alley in Saint John, Antigua with a parked automobile. The pink and red building, on the right, houses Quin Farara and Company Limited, a liquor merchant. This Quin Farara store is located on the corners of Long Street and Corn Alley in Saint John’s, Antigua. The store’s red doors have the Tuborg logo and beer poster advertisements. Tuborgs Fabrikker, later Tuborg Bryggerier, was founded in Hellerup, Denmark in 1873 by Carl Frederik Tietgen. In 1970, Tuborg was purchased by Carlsberg.
