Exhibits showcasing handheld farming tools, such as a stone mortar, wooden pestle, machete, iron hoes, forks, shovels, and a stone wheel. The main exhibit is flanked by a smaller exhibit displaying a donkey harness made of rope and wicker baskets used in transportation. Museum exhibit of what appears to be a kitchen scenery in the People’s Museum of Craft and Technology, Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica. The exhibit includes a wax female figure, a fire place with an iron cooking pot, and wooden bowls. The sign in the exhibit reads “Meat Smokers – without refrigeration, the preservation of fish and meat was usually by smoking. The creng-creng was an open basket type of smoker, fish and meat were also hung on hooks.” Slide labeled Jam. Museum of Spanish Town.

Le bal paré-masqué de Guyane renvoi à la séduction du touloulou par le costume qu'il porte, il est dans l'exhibition. Il comporte un avant, un pendant, et un après dancing. Les femmes se préparent et vont se retrouver dans la plus grande discrétion, pour préparer leurs toilettes, s'habiller ensemble, vont être marrainées avec quelqu'un de plus âgé qui leurs transmettent les codes, les symboles, les rites : l'anonymat, l'anonymat à travers le vêtement, le parlé, la démarche...etc. Le bal paré-masqué de Guyane, c'est tout un ensemble de rite, ce qui le distingue des autres bals masqués d'ailleurs.

In Trinidad and Tobago, carnival celebrations begin after Christmas and peak during the Monday and Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday. Costumed masqueraders and festival revelers partake in the two-day street parade, generally accompanied by soca, calypso, and steel pan music, before beginning the Lenten season. The National Museum and Art Gallery hosts a permanent ongoing exhibit of masks and costumes from past carnivals. The carnival costume, pictured in the center, is made with long and short white feathers and features highlights of black feathers. Gold ornaments decorate the costume which also has a ram’s head near the waist area. Next to this costume is an ornate peacock head gear which has been placed atop an armless statue with a human face. Slide labeled Trin. 12.

Mallica Reynolds, known as Kapo, is a self-taught artist, whose work has been exhibited in various countries and has won numerous honors including the 1985 Norman Manley Award for Excellence in the Fine Arts. Reynolds was a Zionist Revival leader, or shepherd, whose artworks included sculptors and paintings which recorded religious subjects, everyday life, and the Jamaican landscape. In the image, Reynolds is standing next to one of his painting which features Jamaican rural houses surrounded by trees.

Résumé : (Exhibitions) "Patterns Past and Present: Arts of Panama" at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. The creature on this mola blouse has both human and animal features. It appears to be a woman with webbed hands and feet and amphibious limbs, suggesting she is part frog or turtle. The pointed teeth suggest she may be a nia, or demon. Alternatively, she may be a beneficent being, as the xray-like view of the ribcage may be an allusion to the use of turtle bones in healing practices.
