Evaluating the effect of vesticular-arbuscular mycorrhizae on tomato plantgrowth and production ; Évaluation de l'effet des mycorhizes vésico-arbusculaires sur la croissance et la production de tomates Auteur(s) : Awadhpersad, Vijantie Année de publication : Loading the player... Éditeur(s) : University of Suriname Université des Antilles. Service commun de la documentation Extrait de : 52e congrès annuel de la Société caribéenne des plantes alimentaires / 52nd annual meeting of the Caribbean food crops society (CFCS), du 10 au 16 juillet 2016. INRA, CFCS Description : Tomato is one of the most popular vegetables in the world. Therefore, for improvement in crop productivity in Suriname and most other countries, excessive application of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers is used. These result in gradual depletion of soil fertility and microbial diversity. Conventionally managed soils are found to exhibit a poorer micro flora and a lower biological activity then organically managed soils. Recently much attention is paid to organic cultivation and the use of bio fertilizers as a supplement for chemical fertilizers. VAM fungi have the potential to improve the sustainability of tomato production by improving yield and quality. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of two different concentrations of commercially available vesicular - arbuscular mycorrhiza on the plant growth and fruit production of two tomato varieties (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) in the greenhouse. The experiment was set up as a randomized factorial block design with two independent factors and consisted of six treatments and three replications. The factors were two tomato varieties: hybrid 61 and hybrid 501 and two concentrations of VAM namely 2.5 and 10 g. VAM/plant. Biomass was determined two times, at bloom initiation and at the end of the experiment. The growth parameters were measured once per week. The production was recorded only for the first two harvest times. Data was statistically analyzed using three-way ANOVA. The results of this experiment showed that the VAM fungi had a positive influence (p < 0.05) on the production for both varieties of tomatoes. And it also resulted in earlier reproduction. There was no significant difference in production (p > 0.05) between the two concentrations of VAM inoculum used. Effect of lipid level in a compound diet on the development of red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) larvae Auteur(s) : Buchet, Vincent Zambonino, Jose-luis Cahu, Chantal Éditeur(s) : Elsevier Résumé : Red drum larvae were fed from day 11 to day 24 post-hatch, with Artemia (LP group) or two isoproteinic-formulated diets with varying lipid levels, 15% (L15 group) and 30% (L30 group). The lipid fraction was composed of a mixture of cod liver oil and soy lecithin. Larvae fed Artemia exhibited the greatest length, L30 diet induced a larvae length significantly greater than that obtained with L15 diet (P < 0,05). No difference was observed in larvae survival among the three dietary groups. The increase in dietary lipid concentration led to an increase in amylase and trypsin secretion levels in 24-day-old larvae. The pancreatic secretion level measured in L30 group was close to that of LP group, suggesting that the maturation of the pancreatic functions was normally developed. Red drum larvae fed the diet containing the higher lipid content (L30) exhibited a more developed brush border membrane digestion in the intestine than larvae fed L15 diet (P < 0.05). Phospholipase A2 was stimulated by the increase of phospholipids in the diet, but no difference was observed for lipase between the two compound diet-fed groups; the LP group exhibited the lowest lipase activity. A plateau in lipase activity may have occurred in red drum larvae from 15% fat level in the diet, suggesting that the maximal lipase activity was reached with 12% neutral lipid in the diet. The positive effects observed with high dietary fat may be due to the phospholipid fraction of the lipid mixture used. Through the recent and past universal exhibitions and more particularly the world’s fair of Milan 2015 and Port-au-Prince 1949, we recall that this tourist practice of the pleasure trip in a large city dates back to the xixth century, it accompanies the origins of Our modern tourism, while becoming an instrument of geopolitics and tourist marketing of prime importance to cities and host countries. Exhibitions can be seen as an urban lever, but also a way to make travel and understand our world through a system of representation of local and global identities that always emphasizes scientific discovery and cultural experience through the national pavilion. These giant events are based on a staging and narrative based on a universal theme generally questioning the concept of sustainable development and the renewed attractiveness of the destination. Our analysis focuses on the most recent of the universal exhibitions and a forgotten exhibition belonging to the cultural area of the Caribbean, which reveals three dynamics associating mega-event tourism with the utopia of initiatory journeys, namely: reinvent and regain a certain success of frequentation implying a redefinition of the fields and uses of a disrupted utopia; to make travel is an act both scenographic and symbolic through the pavilion involving artifices and more and more digital declensions, the quest for this sustainable practice of travel is confronted with its heritage and its memory at different scales and temporalities.
