Construction of the church began in 1770 and was completed in 1813. It was demolished earlier last century, when only its tower survived. Several years later it was rebuilt under its original design. In 1986 it was converted into the Museum of the Cuban People's Struggle against the Counterrevolution.

In Trinidad and Tobago, carnival celebrations begin after Christmas and peak during the Monday and Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday. Costumed masqueraders and festival revelers partake in the two-day street parade, generally accompanied by soca, calypso, and steel pan music, before beginning the Lenten season. The National Museum and Art Gallery hosts a permanent ongoing exhibit of masks and costumes from past carnivals. This image shows the full view of two costumes. The partial view of two more costumes can be seen as well. One of the costumes is decorated with feathered props and fans. The costume also features geometric shapes and a stylized bird’s head, with the opening for the wearer at the base of the bird’s neck. Another costume is decorated with hands accompanied by a feathered head gear featuring a stylized human face. Slide labeled Trin. 11.

The Presidential Palace in Havana housed of all Cuban presidents from Mario García Menocal to Fulgencio Batista. It became the Museum of the Revolution during the years following the Cuban Revolution. The Spanish name is el Museo de la Revolución, and is located in the Old Havana section of Havana. On the bottom left of the photograph is a typical street which are very popular in the main cities of Cuba.
The former Presidential Palace was designed by the Cuban architect Carlos Maruri and the Belgian architect Paul Belau and was inaugurated in 1920 by President Mario García Menocal. It remained the Presidential Palace until 1959. The building has Neo-Classical elements, and was decorated by Tiffany & Co. of New York.

Description : Du 5 septembre au 11 octobre 2016, le Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle a piloté sur les côtes martiniquaises un inventaire de grande ampleur de la faune et de la flore. L'expédition avait pour objectif de renforcer la connaissance actuelle de la biodiversité marine en Martinique par un inventaire quasi exhaustif d'espèces qui sont encore méconnues (algues, éponges, mollusques, crustacés, échinodermes...). Philippe Bouchet, chef de la mission, rappelle dans quel cadre sont menées les grandes expéditions du Muséum. Claude Bouchon évoque ensuite l'évolution des récifs coralliens antillais depuis 30 ans et explique comment les activités humaines impactent cet écosystème riche et fragile. Josiane Pain Mahieu, enseignante au Lycée Montgérald du Marin, qui a participé à la constitution de l'alguier lors de la mission, clôt la conférence en soulignant la nécessité de sensibiliser le jeune public : faire connaître les problématiques de la biodiversité marine de la Martinique aujourd'hui devrait permettre de la préserver demain.

The Nassau Public Library and Museum building, completed between 1798 and 1800, was originally built as prison by Loyalist Joseph Eve and was inspired by the Powder Magazine in Williamsburg, Virginia. The library, established in 1847, was moved to the converted prison building in 1873. Today, the structure is the only octagonal historic building in the Bahamas. Résumé : The Tobacco sorter sorts tobacco leaves according to color and condition for use as cigar wrappers or binders: Selects leaves without obvious defects from bundle and lays them on booker bench (curved-top stand over which leaves are draped). Examines leaves for color variations, tears, tar spots, tight grain, and size under specifications. Places leaves not suitable for wrapper in separate pile. Folds wrapper leaves into bundles for stripping.
