Résumé : (Exhibitions) "Patterns Past and Present: Arts of Panama" at the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art. The creature on this mola blouse has both human and animal features. It appears to be a woman with webbed hands and feet and amphibious limbs, suggesting she is part frog or turtle. The pointed teeth suggest she may be a nia, or demon. Alternatively, she may be a beneficent being, as the xray-like view of the ribcage may be an allusion to the use of turtle bones in healing practices.

Résumé : The central woman figure was of a member of the Spanish Royal Court. She has graced the Cuesta-Rey band since 1884. During the reign of King Alfonse XIII, Cuesta-Rey was the official cigar of the Royal Court. In addition, the rich history of the Cuesta-Rey brand includes winning a premier medal of achievement for the Panama-Pacific Expedition of 1914.

Four people and a dog walk on a path near houses in Great Guana Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. A group of three people, wearing sunglasses, walk side by side toward the photographer. The group is made up of one man with a pipe in his mouth, a woman dressed in a white bathrobe, and another man who has a camera around his neck and wears a red shirt. In the distance, a person is bent over touching their pant leg while a dog approaches behind him or her. Another man can be seen sitting on a porch in one of the nearby houses. During February of 1957, this group of people travelled on the boat “Isabella” to many of the smaller islands of the Abacos, including Green Turtle Cay, Great Guana Cay, Allen Cay, and Grand Cay. This image shows a view of businesses, pedestrians, and automobiles driving down Corn Alley in Saint John's, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda. Three high school students from Antigua Girls High School, established in 1886, walk near the intersection of Church Street and Corn Alley dressed in their school uniforms. This uniform consists of a blue collared dress with a dark belt and worn with a white straw hat. Two younger girls from an unknown school are also walking on the street. These two girls are dressed in plaid collared dresses with white straw hats and brown shoes. Other pedestrians pass them along the street. In the foreground is a woman driving a Sunbeam automobile.

In 1625, Barbados was claimed on behalf of England. In 1627, Barbados was colonized and attained independence in 1966. The Barbados Parliament, established in 1639, was the third oldest Parliament in the British Commonwealth. The Parliament Buildings, completed in 1874, are the meeting places for the two chambers of Parliament, the Senate and the House of Assembly. The Legislative Council, originally established during the island’s colonization, was replaced by a Senate in 1964. The main entrance to the House of Assembly, the lower house, has a Bust of Sir William Conrad Reeves the first black person to be knighted. The architecture of the buildings reflects a Gothic revival featuring arches. The picture includes a woman in a yellow dress and a man next to a school. Many forms of transportation vehicles are seen: automobiles, scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles. Slide labeled Public Bldgs. Barbados.
