Résumé : Le roman de Laferrière présente un récit qui tient plus de la mémoire, de l’imaginaire que de la « réalité » et ce, dans un « Tiers-espace », dans une situation d’« entre-pluralités ». Cette étude se fonde sur les composantes suivantes : le métissage culturel et la subjectivité, l’exil et le marronnage ainsi que le corps de la « mèr/e » comme « lieu » d’intersection des cultures. Nous aborderons aussi la question du style de l’auteur afin de démontrer la correspondance entre l’écriture et le signifié du texte-signifiant. Les représentations du départ, du retour et du détour ponctuent le récit dans une structure spatio-temporelle complexe, hybride et fluide. L’identité culturelle et métisse du narrateur projette une acceptation de l’autre dans sa différence à la fois banale et sublime.
This literary analysis focuses on how the narrator of The Enigma of the Return navigates through various spaces (Canada and Haiti) and time in order to “relearn” and “relive” the memories of his childhood and the death of his father. The return and the détour function and are intertwined in a real and in a fiction world, and in the sacred present moment. The oceanic metaphors and the fragmented style also emphasize the narrator’s desire to accentuate the “contre idéologie” of writing. The narrator displays an original “cohabitation” with the notion of “exile”. The nomadism, the long return, and the many “détours” have a goal: to bring the father back to his native land through an enigmatic prose and rhythm… a long peregrination which allows peace and identity to merge: the cyclic end of the voyage is completed.

Description : Dans cette communication, Carlos Correia et Irene Tome de l'Universidade Nova de Lisboa, cherchent à clarifier les frontières où éclate le conflit entre la conscience du moi et la dualité numérique du XXIe siècle. « Chaumière où du foyer étincelait la flamme, Toit que le pèlerin aimait à voir fumer, Objets inanimés, avez-vous donc une âme Qui s'attache à notre âme et la force d'aimer ». Au XIXe siècle Alphone Lamartine s'interrogeait sur « l'âme des objets inanimés », et nous décernons une complémentarité entre ce paysage cognitif et les réflexions contemporaines de l'écrivain et philosophe Eric Sadin sur « la vie robotiquement ajustée ». Si les données informatiques aboutissent à des prédictions mathématiques que facilitent quelques comportements de l'homme voilà, selon notre hypothèse, le point de confluence qui éclaircit comment et pourquoi Friedrich Nietzsche a accepté une machine comme une forme de résoudre une partie de son infortune: en 1882, presque aveugle, il apprend à taper par sur une machine à écrire - la première Malling-Hansen Writing Ball - car quoique la machine transforme son style littéraire - il accepte que les objets avec lesquels nous écrivons sont une partie intégrante de notre façon de penser.

We propose a new thermomechanical numerical model of mid-ocean ridge accretion aimed at investigating asymmetric spreading rates, diverse configurations of lens and sill magma injections, crystallization and depth, and on- and off-axis patterns of hydrothermal cooling. The numerical algorithm iteratively resolves temperature and motion equations until it reaches a stationary solution. The motion equation was written in a vorticity-stream function formalism, with boundary and internal conditions applied to the stream function to impose the style of magma injection. Unlike in previous models, our model does not assume an a priori shape for the temperature field, which is initiated by an initial half-space cooling according to the left and right spreading rates. Complex patterns of hydrothermal cooling are simulated by enhanced thermal diffusivity. The model succeeds in describing the dynamic and thermal effects of spreading rates, the style of magma intrusion, and the hydrothermal cooling. Accurate descriptions of these are essential to study the cooling histories of crustal rocks and geophysical observables.
