Part of the “sugar works” yard at the Good Hope Plantation in Trelawny, Jamaica. Sugar cane would be processed in the sugar mill and the juice would then be carried across the river in an aqueduct which ran along the bridge to the factory, where sugar was made. The governor's mansion, or King’s House, was built on the foundations of the demolished Spanish Hall of Audience in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica. Thomas Craskell, the Island Engineer, was responsible for preparing the building's plans. The building was completed in 1762 while Sir William Henry Lyttleton was Governor. The mansion was destroyed during a fire in 1925 and now houses the Jamaican People's Museum of Crafts and Technology. In the image, a man sits on the wall of Emancipation Square close to a nearby traffic signal. Slide labeled Spanish Town.

The Rodney Memorial, flanked by two canons, was built to commemorate the victory of Admiral Lord George Brydges Rodney in the Battle of the Saints in 1782. The marble statue was designed by the English sculptor John Bacon and features Rodney wearing a Roman tunic and stands in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica. Slide labeled Spanish Town.

By 1755, the Good Hope Estate was formed through a land grant, given to Colonel Thomas Williams, who built the first great house on the site, which was a sugar estate. In 1767, the property and surrounding estates was purchased by John Tharp, then the largest land and slave owner in Jamaica. The plantation is close to the Martha Brae River and the Cockpit Mountains. The estate became a hotel in 1912 after it was purchased by an American banker. In the foreground of the picture, a citrus grove behind a wire fence. Slide labeled Hope Plantation.

This church in Mandeville, Manchester, Jamaica is constructed with a zinc roof and has an arch doorway. The building is surrounded by a wooden picket fence.
