This Victorian style mansion was built in 1881 by the Honorable David Gideon, a former Custos of Portland and member of the Legislative Council of Jamaica. This mansion, now a hotel, is constructed with a red brick exterior and features ornate cast iron balconies. Becoming a street vendor, also known locally as a higgler, is a common example of small business enterprise in Jamaica. This image shows women street vendors selling flowers, such as calla lilies and carnations to passersby in Kingston.
