Résumé : From Wikipedia (March 23, 2013) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Robert_Madden : Richard Robert Madden (born Dublin, Ireland 22 August 1798, died Dublin, 5 February 1886) was an Irish doctor, writer, abolitionist and historian of the United Irishmen. He was born at Wormwood Gate, Dublin to Edward Madden, a silk manufacturer. He was educated at private schools. He studied medicine in Paris, Italy, and St George's Hospital, London. While in Naples he became acquainted with Lady Blessington and her circle.[1] Madden was employed in the British civil service from 1833, first as a justice of the peace in Jamaica, where he was one of six Special Magistrates sent to oversee the eventual liberation of Jamaica's slave population, according to the terms of the Slavery Abolition Act 1833. From 1835 he was Superintendent of the freed Africans in Havana. His son, Thomas More Madden, who later became a surgeon and writer, was born there. In 1839 he became the investigating officer into the slave trade on the west coast of Africa, in 1847 the secretary for the West Australian colonies. He returned to Dublin and in 1850 he was named secretary of the Office for Loan Funds in Dublin.[2] He died at his home in Booterstown, just south of Dublin city, in 1886 and is interred in Donnybrook Cemetery.

Résumé : Hugh C. Macfarlane, an immigrant from Scotland, purchased land in November 1886 and built a cigar factory that started production on .June 15, 1892. Macfarlane and other developers offered free land and buildings, bringing in more cigar factories and growth that led to the formation of the City of West Tampa on May 18, 1895. Other immigrants from Cuba, Spain, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and different parts of the United States made up the population, giving the town its distinctive, vibrant character. After thirty years as a prospering municipality West Tampa was annexed to the City of Tampa on January 1, 1925.

Résumé : Answering a need of the Office of Regional Marine Affairs of Brittany, the "fisheries" laboratory of the Ifremer in Lorient provides synthesis elements about the status of the stocks of the main species exploited in the Bay of Biscay, Celtic Sea and Western Ireland in 1983. It provides information about the fishing capacity according to the different jobs done and compares two fleets from South-Brittany: Lorient and Concarneau. This report will have to be completed by the laboratories of Roscoff for activities in North-Brittany and of la Rochelle for activities in the Bay of Biscay.
Suite à la demande de la Direction Régionale des Affaires Maritimes de Bretagne, le laboratoire "Pêche" de l'Ifremer à Lorient donne des éléments de synthèse sur l'état des stocks des principales espèces exploitées dans le golfe de Gascogne, la mer Celtique et Ouest-Irlande en 1983. Il informe sur la capacité de pêche en fonction des différents métiers exercés et fait une comparaison entre deux flottilles de sud-Bretagne : Lorient et Concarneau. Ce rapport devra être complété par les contributions des laboratoires de Roscoff pour les activités de Nord-Bretagne, et de la Rochelle pour les activités dans le golfe de Gascogne.

Résumé : In 1873, eleven years after the death of his first wife, Henry Plant married Margaret Josephine Loughman, daughter of Martin Loughman of New York City. Margaret, whose ancestry included nobility in Ireland, would later be a great help to Henry in the selection of furnishings for the Pullman palace cars, steamships and the Tampa Bay Hotel.
