Near the terminal are two Bahamas Airways airplanes parked next to a yellow automobile. Bahamas Airways closed operations in 1970. In 1973 Bahamasair, a result of the merger of Out Island Airways and Flamingo Airways, was established as the national carrier of the Independent Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
