Résumé : While Macfarlane's subdivision formed the center of West Tampa, the participation and investment of his partners were essential to Howard Avenue and Union Street the area's development, from Columbus Drive on the north to Fig Street on the south from the Hillsborough River on the east to Himes Avenue on the west. Dr. Philip H. Collins owned the subdivisions of El Cerro, Collins' Addition, and Collins' Second Addition. His son-in-law George Nelson Benjamin obtained two large subdivisions in 1892 from William B. Henderson. He ended these orange grove properties and promoted the growth of West Tampa's industry,serving also as Treasurer in the West Tampa Land Improvement Company and as Director of the Bank of West Tampa.

Résumé : The slides were taken on collecting trips sponsored by the William L. Bryant Foundation, where books, music and art indigenous to the regions were gathered. The are organized by geographical location.
The Presidential Palace in Havana housed of all Cuban presidents from Mario García Menocal to Fulgencio Batista. It became the Museum of the Revolution during the years following the Cuban Revolution. The Spanish name is el Museo de la Revolución, and is located in the Old Havana section of Havana. On the bottom left of the photograph is a typical street which are very popular in the main cities of Cuba.
The former Presidential Palace was designed by the Cuban architect Carlos Maruri and the Belgian architect Paul Belau and was inaugurated in 1920 by President Mario García Menocal. It remained the Presidential Palace until 1959. The building has Neo-Classical elements, and was decorated by Tiffany & Co. of New York.

Résumé : The Tobacco sorter sorts tobacco leaves according to color and condition for use as cigar wrappers or binders: Selects leaves without obvious defects from bundle and lays them on booker bench (curved-top stand over which leaves are draped). Examines leaves for color variations, tears, tar spots, tight grain, and size under specifications. Places leaves not suitable for wrapper in separate pile. Folds wrapper leaves into bundles for stripping.

Although the photographer did not name the building in this photograph, making it difficult to identify, it is a typical catholic church, possibly dating back to the 17th or 18th century. It is obvious that the church is open for visitors due to the street venders selling t-shirts on the bottom right and the woman standing in front of the iron gate is possibly there to collect tickets or charge admission.

Résumé : Bay Street parallels the harbor, and is Nassau's "main street." The large building in the background is the Hotel Colonial (British Colonial Hotel). The Florida East Coast Hotel Company, a subsidiary of the FEC Railway Company, built it in 1901. It burned in 1922, and was replaced the following year by the present-day British Colonial Hotel. "Bay Street monopolizes nearly all the business of the city, and is its principal thoroughfare. It skirts the harbor, is shaded by rows of almond trees, stretches east and west ... and is made lively and attractive by trade and travel. ... During all parts of the day, Bay street is thronged with people, almost exclusively colored." - The Isles of Summer, 1880.

Résumé : The society grew in membership so rapidly that it leased the Orange Hotel on Tampa Street in June 1903 for use as a sanitarium until the original Covadonga Sanitarium opened on Ola Avenue in April 1905 with 54 beds. The second Covadonga Hospital on 21st Avenue opened in October 1927. The hospitals were called Covadonga in homage to the Virgin of Covadonga who appeared to Pelayo at the beginning of the Reconquest of Spain in the 8th century which freed the country from Moorish rule.

Résumé : Ybor looked to this area when labor troubles, fires and other calamities doomer the tobacco trade in Key West. He worked out a deal with the fledgling Tampa Board of Trade to buy up considerable land and then he and other cigar manufacturers came to town. Sanchez & Haya was the first factory to get into production, turning out the first stogie on April 26, 1886. But shortly afterward Ybor was open for business in the big brick building.
