During Christopher Columbus's second voyage to the New World, he landed on the North coast of Jamaica on May 5, 1494 and called the area Santa Gloria. In 1503 during his fourth and final voyage, Columbus and his men were marooned in Jamaica. After his shipwreck, Columbus lived in Maima, a Taino (or Arawaks) Indian settlement near Seville for over a year. The Taino Indians were Jamaica’s first native people. The area is now part of the Maima-Seville Heritage Park, owned and operated by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust. The image shows the remains of walls at an excavation site. Résumé : This small, Greek Revival memorial borders the east side of the Plaza de Armas. It commemorates the city's first Catholic mass and town council meeting, which took place on the site in 1519. The temple was built in 1828. The first mass took place under a silk-cotton tree, so a tree of this species shades El Templete. Once or twice each century, the tree grows too large for the site, and is replaced.

Résumé : The slides were taken on collecting trips sponsored by the William L. Bryant Foundation, where books, music and art indigenous to the regions were gathered. The are organized by geographical location.
Although the photographer did not name the building in this photograph, making it difficult to identify, it is a typical catholic church, possibly dating back to the 17th or 18th century. It is obvious that the church is open for visitors due to the street venders selling t-shirts on the bottom right and the woman standing in front of the iron gate is possibly there to collect tickets or charge admission.

A woman is standing at the arched entrance of this building, which has a breadfruit tree growing nearby. As of 2013, this building, which has Caribbean Georgian architectural elements, has been the home of the Pottery Studio. For many years, the building has held the studio for Jamaican potter David Pinto, whose work is part of the permanent collection of The National Gallery of Jamaica. In this work we perform a statistical analysis of global solar radiation measured at two sites, 38 km distant from, in Guadeloupe, French West Indies. We have established a correlation model based on the coefficient of variation assuming a time scale separation. The coefficient of variation is calculated on minutes interval with data measured at 1 Hz. This analysis highlight the dynamic correlation that can occur between measurements from two different sites with a time step of one second. From this results, knowing the coefficient of variation on a site we have established a new correlation model on this parameter for another site. A diagram linking the standard deviation on both sites, for a given coefficient of variation is proposed for correlated and non-correlated cases. More over this analysis put in evidence the existence of a threshold time under which there is no significant correlation. This model can be useful in choosing new sites of production not only for establishing correlation from on site to another, but also in optimizing the geographical distribution of the solar farms within the territory.
