Les Rendez-vous numériques en histoire de l’art des Antilles

INHA's Carte blanche 2021, Les Rendez-vous numériques en histoire de l'art des Antilles, is a digital project managed by Christelle Lozère, Professor of Art History at the Université des Antilles, in partnership with CNRS (UMR 8053 PHEEAC), the INHA, the Université des Antilles, Manioc, Mémorial Acte and FME. Inspired by the Musée d'Orsay's concept of “one work, one artist”, the project aims to present, in a series of monthly episodes, the challenges and complexities of objects and works relating to the West Indian and Caribbean heritage.

The aim is to show, through an approach open to the general public as well as to researchers and students, the wealth of collections linked to the world of slavery, imperialism, transatlanticism or diaspora, preserved in our West Indian territories as well as in national and international institutions and private collections. Under the informed eye of specialists and with a transdisciplinary vocation, the main idea is to comment on the chosen work - painting, drawing, sculpture, photograph or other type of object - inscribed in the Caribbean heritage by analyzing it in its historical, artistic and social context, while offering also a complementary scientific environment for educational purposes on the Manioc site.
