The Churchill Building currently stands on the site of the former Adderley building which was purchased by the Bahamian government through the Adderley Property Purchase Loan Act of 1963. The Churchill Building was built in the early 1960s. The Adderley Building, pictured, houses the Tourism Information office and the John F. McCarthy Real Estate Insurance company. The building is located on the south side of Rawson Square which sits on the corner of Bay and East streets. Tourists are driving down Bay Street in a surrey, a horse-drawn door-less, four-wheeled carriage with two seats. Les mentalités, habituées à des techniques désormais dépassées, utilisent les nouveaux outils avec des protocoles anciens, c'est ce que Jacques Perriault appelle l'effet diligence ». Le passage de documents du support papier au numérique s'est-il accompagné d'un tel effet ? Deux directions de réflexion sont proposées : le fond et la forme. Sur le fond, les manières d'écrire pour l'écran n'ont semble-t-il évolué que dernièrement avec des concepts empruntés à la presse écrite comme la pyramide inversée. Pour la forme, il aura fallu près de deux décennies pour reconstituer partiellement à l'écran certaines facilités cognitives offertes par le codex avec des organisateurs de structure et de navigation spécifiques. Il semble donc qu'en matière de forme tout au moins, l'effet diligence fut à retardement et ce, très paradoxalement, à cause de la technologie. The town of Bath is located in the John Crow Mountains in Saint Thomas, Jamaica. Mineral springs flow from the rocks and are piped into the bath house, pictured, where the cold and hot waters of the springs are mixed together. The water’s high mineral (sulfur and lime) content is believed to have medicinal properties. The bath has been officially known as the Bath of the Saint Thomas the Apostle. Bath Fountain Hotel and Spa is run by the Jamaican Ministry of Tourism. In front of the building are many automobiles including a taxi. Pictured is the back of the Queen Victoria statue by sculpture John Adams-Acton, flanked by two cannons. The statue, located in Nassau's Parliament Square, was erected in celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday on May 24, 1905. To the right of the statue can be seen the former Colonial Secretary's Office, built in 1805 by James Tait, which today houses the government administrative offices. Parliament Square's pink government buildings, examples of Classical style architecture, were constructed in the early 1800s by Loyalists who came to the Bahamas from North Carolina. In the background is the former Adderley building, where the Churchill building now stands. Regina, a crowd of people, and automobiles on the pier in front of the Grenada Port Authority in Saint George’s, Saint George, Grenada. S.S. Regina, originally built in 1939, is docked at the port. S.S. Regina was christened S.S. Panama for Panama Line, formerly Panama Railroad Steamship Line. In 1941, the United States Army Transport Service converted her to a troop carrier and renamed her James Parker. By 1957, she was sold to American President Lines, formerly Dollar Steamship Lines. She was renamed President Hoover to replace another of American’s steamships by the same name. In 1964, she was acquired by Chandris Cruises and renamed Regina. She was scrapped in 1985 as S.S. Regina Prima. Passengers wait in automobiles, such as the Ford Zodiac, as the traffic is surrounded by pedestrians. A Royal Grenada Police Force officer, dressed in a white helmet and light blue shirt, is standing near one of the port facilities. In distance is a view of buildings in Saint George’s including the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception which dates back to 1818. This Roman Catholic church also features Gothic arched windows and tower. Tuborgs Fabrikker, later Tuborg Bryggerier, was founded in Hellerup, Denmark in 1873 by Carl Frederik Tietgen. In 1970, Tuborg was purchased by Carlsberg.
