The Nassau Public Library and Museum building, completed between 1798 and 1800, was originally built as prison by Loyalist Joseph Eve and was inspired by the Powder Magazine in Williamsburg, Virginia. The library, established in 1847, was moved to the converted prison building in 1873. Today, the structure is the only octagonal historic building in the Bahamas. North Cat Cay was purchased in 1931 by Louis Wasey as a private island and is presently (2013) owned by members of the Cat Cay Yacht Club. Robert Fulton (1765-1815) was an American inventor credited with adapting the steam engine for commercial use in boats. He worked with Robert Livingston to provide steamboat service along the Hudson River. In 1909, Steamboat Robert Fulton, pictured, went into service for the Hudson River Day Line and made its final voyage on September 13, 1948. In 1959, the steamboat was brought to land at Snake Cay, Abaco, Bahamas where it later housed the offices and apartments for Owens-Illinois Incorporated, a lumber company. Two boats one with the name “Isabella, New York” and another named “Joy G.” are anchored near a dock on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas. "Isabella" belongs to John Richard Yeend, also known as Captain Jack R. Yeend. During February of 1957, “Isabella” travelled to many of the smaller islands of the Abacos including Green Turtle Cay, Great Guana Cay, Allen Cay, and Grand Cay.
