The filling of the site, dating from upper Pleistocene and Holocene, is characterized in its upper part by an alternance of carbonated concretions, stalagmitic floors and clays, and in its lower part by an sandy-silty-clay deposit. The results of the magnetic study reveal the abundance of magnetic grains of secondary origin (magnetite and maghemite), and more particularly in the upper part of the filling. The grains of superparamagnetic size (SP) dominate, followed by those of multi-domain (MD) and single-domain size (SD). The latter have a low coercitive force. Some hearths were located within the filling thanks to their color, with the presence of coal and the strong values of the various magnetic parameters. ![]() | Le monde du café à la Martinique du début du XVIIIe siècle aux années 1860 ; The world of coffee from the beginning of the eighteenth century through the 1860s Auteur(s) : Hardy, Marie Auteurs secondaires : Antilles-Guyane Bégot, Danielle Résumé : L’historiographie antillaise n’a donné jusqu’ici qu’une vision tronquée de la société martiniquaise. The historiography of the Antilles to date has yielded only a limited vision of society in Martinique. The scientific works of the Colonial Era were egocentrically focused on the economy of sugar plantations, but this only covered a little over half of the population of the island in the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century. The other half of the working population, whether they were free or slaves, was divided between cities and secondary enterprises. As the coffee industry took root, a separate world emerged, diverging from the elite sugar plantation owners that represented the land-owning white population. This parallel society of economically disadvantaged small farmers and coffee growers, living a hard-working, difficult lifestyle, exhibited endogamous marriage behavior. This analysis highlights a multi-faceted social body in which women, free people of color, and, with the abolition of slavery, the new free hold a special role. On the other side of the barrier, the slaves also have a unique profile, they operate in small plantations on which opportunities for advancement are greater than in the large sugarcane plantations. This work fills an important gap in the social history of Martinique, as it reexamines the perception of the elite sugar plantation society via the perspective of a social class hitherto unnoticed. http://www.theses.fr/2014AGUY0724 | Partager |

The study wascarried out on four selected guava varieties grown in Martinique. Two fruit harvests were gathered at two-yearintervals, at the green/yellow color change maturity stage. First, we established the homogeneity of all fruitbatches by bootstrapping, ANOVA, box plot and multiple comparison statistical analysis on physicalparameters. Red Supreme Ruby clearly differs from the other three varieties, whereas the results for CentenoProlific are between Beauséjour and Enana Cuba. We determined on puree obtained from a homogeneousbatch of each variety the physicochemical and functional properties as well as the antioxidant properties. Ourresults show that the combination of lycopene and vitamin C, and their synergistic mechanisms in the fruitextracts may be responsible for the high antioxidant activity of guava puree, and we demonstrate a statisticallysignificant positive correlation between EC50 and lycopene. In particular, Greece supplies a lot of archeological materials due to its impressive cultural heritage and volcanic activity, so that numerous data have been obtained from burnt clays or historical lava flows. The most recent Greek secular variation curves are available for the last 8 millennia for the intensity and the last 6 millennia for the direction. Nevertheless, the coverage still presents several gaps for periods older than 2500 BC. In an effort to complete the Greek curve and extend it to older times, we present the archeointensity results from three Neolithic settlements in Northern Greece. The samples are of two different natures: burnt structures from Avgi (5250 ± 150 BC) and Vasili (4800 ± 200 BC), as well as ceramics from Dikili Tash (4830 ± 80 BC) and Vasili (4750 ± 250 BC). The samples have been subjected to standard rock magnetic analyses in order to estimate the thermal stability and the domain state of the magnetic carriers before archeointensity measurements. Surprisingly, very few ceramic samples provided reliable archeointensities whereas samples from burnt structures presented a very good success rate. Complementary studies showed that a detailed examination of the matrix color, following archeological information and classification standards can be a decisive test for pre-selection of sherds. In spite of these unsuccessful measurements from ceramics, we obtained an intensity value of 73.5 ± 1.1 μT for Dikili Tash, a higher value than the other data obtained in the same area, during the same period. However we do not have evidences for a technical artefact during the experiment. The burnt structures yielded two reliable archeointensities of 36.1 ± 1.8 μT and 46.6 ± 3.4 μT for Avgi and Vasili, respectively. Finally, we achieved a new archeomagnetic dating for these sites by comparing these new archeointensity values, combined to the directional measurements already published, with the Bulgarian secular variation curve. These new results contribute to extend the Greek secular variation reference curve towards older periods. ![]() | Care in Postcolonial Environment: Emancipation and Identity Claim of Disabled People in Guadeloupe ; Care en milieu postcolonial : émancipation et revendication identitaire des personnes handicapées en Guadeloupe Auteur(s) : Villoing, Gaël Ruffié, Sébastien Ferez, Sylvain Auteurs secondaires : Adaptations au Climat Tropical, Exercice et Santé (ACTES) ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) Santé, Education et Situations de Handicap (SantESiH) ; Université de Montpellier (UM) Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Elsevier Masson Résumé : International audience This article studies the associative movement of people with a motor disability in Guadeloupe (FWI), which has contributed to the development of the care activities on the island. The first self-regulated associations, initiated at the beginning of the 1980s, were to influence the structuration of the new social and medico-social sector. From the analysis of the main actors’ interviews and archival materials, we can notice a double identity claim: a disabled people identity and a Guadelupian identity. This double identity claim will influence the care activities. While at first, the adjustment with the mainland France is looked for, the actors also provide an anti-authority speech, which puts forward Guadelupian specificities about the care activities. In the past few years, the Colombian Caribbean coast has experienced rapid tourism development which has not been accompanied with a similar increase in urbanization facilities. For example, the city of Cartagena de Indias (the most famous tourist destination of Colombia), data related to November 2009 – January 2015 period, showed an increase of 20% in tourist arrivals. A large number of surveys developed in Europe found that the most critical parameters for tourists, when they choose a beach, are: i) security, ii) scenery, iii) water quality, iv) litter, v) facilities. Scenery is one of the most significant coastal resources. Therefore, its evaluation is a valuable tool for coastal managers when developing conservation and protection plans. This proposal provides coastal scenery assessment of 37 beaches along the North Colombian Caribbean littoral by analysing 26 physical and human factors. Results were weighted (not all parameters have equal weight) and subjected to fuzzy logic mathematics in order to reduce recorder judgment subjectivity. The sites were categorised into five classes; Class 1 locations had top grade scenery; Class 5 poor scenery. Of the 37 sectors studied, currently none can be considered as an extremely attractive coastal area (class1), while 15 were unattractive urban coastal areas (class 5), the rest of the beaches (22) placed in classes 2, 3 and 4. Classification of analysed sites depends on the geological setting and degree of human occupation. The technique opens new perspectives for analysis of the potential for coastal tourism development in natural areas and scenic quality improvement of current tourist developed areas. Concerning coastal management issues, emphasis should be given to the upgrading of human parameters eliminating litter and sewage evidence, vegetation debris and enhancing beach nourishment works. This proposal can help in moving some locations from their present status to a higher one. ![]() | Two examples of nutritional pathology related to vitamins E and C deficiencies Auteur(s) : Baudin Laurencin, F Messager, J Stephan, Gwendal Éditeur(s) : Actes de colloques Ifremer, Tahiti, French Polynesia, 20 Feb - 4 Mar 1989, n°9, chap. 17, pp.171-181 Résumé : Symptoms recalling a nutritional pathology and more precisely a process of lipid peroxydation were observed during the last years in seabass Dicentrarchus labrax and other fishes cultured in tropical marine condition, Ocyurus chrysurus and Lutjanus analis . They included dark coloration, skin ulceration, lethargy, anorexy, emaciation. Histological examinations showed hepatic fatty degenerative lesions, pancreatitis, muscular degeneration and retinal atrophy. Additional vitamins E and C in the food suppressed that pathological symptoms. The previously evoked clinical or histological signs were not achieved in spite of an increase of the level of hepatic, muscular or blood malondialdehyde and of the conjugated dienes of the perivisceral fat. In the same time, hepatic and muscular tocopherol decreased. These experiments also showed the feasibility and the interest of different analyses in the characterization of such a pathology: hemolysis test and activity of enzymes such as erythrocytic catalase or superoxyde dismutase and plasma glutathione peroxydase. Another nutritional disease is worth describing again, the Granulomatous Hypertyrosinaemia. It was essentially investigated in turbot Scophtalmus maximus but other fish species such as sea bream Chrysophris aurata are often affected. The Pic de Port Vieux, a second-order thrust related to the major Gavarnie thrust in the southern central part of the Pyrenees Axial Zone, juxtaposes Triassic pelites of the hanging wall and Cretaceous limestones of the footwall. In order to investigate the mineralogical and geochemical changes and constrain the deformation conditions of thrusting, characterization of phyllosilicates was performed along a transect in the fault hanging wall pelites. The Triassic pelites are mainly composed of quartz, calcite, phyllosilicates (chlorite and K-white mica) and ± hematite. The core fault zone thickness is estimated to be about one meter of intensively foliated green pelites, whereas the damage zone is composed of several meters of red pelites. XRD data demonstrated that the difference in color is related to hematite which is only present in the damage zone. Phyllosilicates of the damage zone are mainly inherited/diagenetic K-white mica and chlorite. In the core zone, newly formed chlorite is abundant and preferentially located in veins. It is enriched in Fe compared to the chlorite of the red pelites. The well-defined foliation in the core zone is overlaid by preferentially oriented muscovite grains which have homogeneous compositions, with less Na and relatively more Fe than mica from the red pelites. Newly formed chlorite and muscovite in the core zone are synkinematic to the fault activity. They are both related to deformation processes and fluid rock interactions. Kübler index measurements and chlorite thermometry show that synkinematic phyllosilicates have registered a temperature of 270°C ± 23°C for the damage zone and 285°C ± 28°C for the core zone which are corresponding to lower-anchizone/epizone grade conditions. Numerical modelling with the geochemical modelling program PhreeqC was performed to determine the favorable conditions for the mineralogical change between red and green pelites. It suggests that the main critical parameter favoring hematite dissolution and chlorite precipitation in the core zone, is the redox conditions. According to the model, the chemical changes in the core zone occurred due to interactions with highly reductive fluids. In addition, the hematite dissolution maybe the source of iron for newly formed phyllosilicates in the core zone that are more iron rich compared to those from the red pelites. The Push factors of Haitian emigration have completely changed since the late 1950s which marked the beginning of this movement with the Duvalier regime. The geopolitical and sociopolitical entities which result from it are changing as well, in proportion and accordance with the motivations of the people who leave. Thus, the forced exiles dreamt of going back to their dearest Haiti, the latest newly-arrived immigrants are individuals who desire to re-root into a land that sounds like “elsewhere”. Must the diasporic individual’s identity be stable? In this article, a simple survey seeks to shed light on the changing mentalities of young Haitians, examining their identities and cultural choices. Emerging trends show that diaspora is a flow, not unlike the identities and the cultures of which it is composed.
