Auteur(s) : Delcroix, Antoine Silvy, Christian Auteurs secondaires : Centre de recherches et de ressources en éducation et formation (CRREF) ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : International audience The French ministry of education introduced in 2005 the « organized returning of knowledge » (ROC) in the French baccalauréat as a tool to render more efficient the mathematical education at the end of secondary school. This article is based on an analysis of the ROC of the 2006 Antilles-Guyane baccalauréat, by the anthropological approach to didactics, which leads to the construction of its mathematical site. Through this analysis, some features of the ROC are discussed, such as its consistency (including from the view point of the institution) and the transparency of this evaluation. ; Therapeutic Patient Education of the asthmatic bilingual French-Creole patients in Guadeloupe : what tools, what impact? In Guadeloupe, a French Overseas Territory, the population uses French and Creole linguistic codes. The main goals of this thesis are to understand and to explain how a better use of French and Creole, within the framework of educational medical exchanges, can improve the understanding of the mechanisms of the disease by the patient, its acceptance and its management. The bronchial asthma is a chronic disease, which affects an important part of the Guadeloupian population. In spite of the recommendations promulgated by the medical scholars, the care of the patients can be improved in Guadeloupe. Certain patients have difficulty understanding the terms used in French by their doctor during the announcement of the diagnosis, as well as by the educators in charge of bringing them the tools of good management of this disease what is not without incidents in terms of morbidity and mortality. The author elaborates his research around five main themes:- The thorough description of the space studied in this thesis; the geography of the land, the history of the population, the impact of the economic; the presentation of the social and health care infrastructures; and furthermore the birth of a new cultural era generating a language shared by more than 95 % of the population and passed on within families and communities.- The presentation of the therapeutic education, the approach considered by the scientific community as essential to improve the management of the patient and the self-management of the disease, the successive governmental plans dealing with this subject.- The state of the knowledge on the bronchial asthma in France, in the world and in Guadeloupe more particularly.- The impact of the Creole language in the process of understanding of the disease within the healthcare relationships and its consequences at the bilingual natives in terms of acquisitions of the tools of self-management in comparison to the use of French.- The formulation of proposals of didactic contextualization regarding the training of the healthcare professionals; the recommendation to the healthcare workers to use the Creole language; the adaptation of the psycho-pedagogical tools to the local context; the encouragement to the patients to use their native language in the expression of their feelings.- Researches show that the Creole language used during the consultation by the regular doctor, but also during the educational sessions therapeutics by the educators influence the indicators of management of this disease. In conclusion, the author defends the hypothesis according to which, the use of the Creole language in the educational medical exchanges at the bilingual asthmatic teenagers French-Creole would favor the understanding of the mechanisms of the asthmatic disease, the awareness of its gravity and the necessity of looking after oneself to avoid the complications, corollary of a good quality of life. http://www.theses.fr/2015AGUY0827/document | Partager |
Teaching of french as a language for integration for haïtians migrants in Guadalupe. From linguistic insecurity to contextual pedagogic tools. Now, the FLI concept controls the integration of foreigners in the french society by a transmission of french language and republican values. Our paper is about the questions coming from the West Indies context, specifically in Guadeloupe, and it is looking at the educational matters closed to Haitians natives' people. We are asking questions about the code switching phenomena and are trying to find, out of the blue, how some contextual specific experiments can help the students in being proud of their culture and in changing their vision of scholar and learning system. Feedback from those oral original sessions are aimed at offering solutions to establish a suitable teaching method named FLR. Citizen Education to hazard mitigation is much more important in French West Indies than in Paris. With national, curriculum, evaluation and textbooks, how science education in French West Indies manage the challenge to take account this particularity of our territories? Based on this example and others, the aim of this communication is to present a science education theoretical background focus on contexts studies. During science teaching, learning effects due to different context like social, cultural or language could be described as contextual effects. But others micro-didactic effects of contexts could also be identified as linked with specificity of natural environment. These effects manifest a strain between a goal of teaching or learning and its implementation, when this stain is due in the educational process in different contexts involved. To ensure the quality of education, reference and quantify the effects of educational context seems to be necessary. it should be interested in the process leading to the emergence of these contexts. We propose a simplified model of these processes initially described as meetings of mechanisms operating within a network of transposition of designs. Then we question these processes by degree or forms of contextualization (low to high) and crossed these two approaches, giving an initial typology of contextualisation process. It then emerges the idea that these processes are constrained by resistances. We retain the following three: epistemological, social and educational. As these constraints are expressed in different ways according to disciplines, the data suggest the existence of disciplinary contextualization profiles. All these three approaches (network implementation, degree of contextualization, disciplinary profiles) are three tools for analyzing contextual phenomena which remain to test the robustness and operational character for the training analysis context. With the advent of information technology, the information explosion and the resurgence of media changed the practices of users of libraries that use more digital and new communication tools. These developments within the University training interrogate us on the issue that may represent the documentary training in the needs and expectations of users for a better use of the information. Our research says around digital social media that punctuate the lives of students and which raise questions on their impacts in access to academic literature. Observed that skills to master by users are still obscured in conventional formations proposed in academic libraries that are necessary to produce a better reception of documentary and informational knowledge to interact a consumerist confinement of information. Based on a methodology with exploratory talks to a questionnaire with information, communication and documentation professionals, our study shows that this is in digital convergence that a change may occur among students. This convergence is part of formations that are moving towards digital cultures combining both education media declining the critical spirit, centered learning and technical culture which must take into account both the knowledge of the tools, but also the training tools. It is this vision of the ecology of the training that foreshadowed in our analysis and looming for academic libraries as a strong axis of anchoring in higher education around a dynamic oriented towards a digital documentary convergence. These recommendations are considered in the context of collective action within the University with real mediation between the different actors of education and training, and a central place for the University Library as the place of training for digital transversalities. http://www.theses.fr/2014AGUY0844 | Partager |
School failure, delinquency, violence, exclusion, are the scourge of modern society. In 1950s Martinique a number of devices were put in place to try and stop or at least reduce the magnitude of the phenomenon. Juvenile institutions, health and social systems were put in place. Nowadays additional options are available such as specialized classes and other special educational structures. These systems unfortunately have resulted in the further marginalization and exclusion of entire generations of children, putting them under a negative light, against the core principal of the very programs that were meant to help them. At the heart of the problem is the belief that things can change. Our goal is not to portray social actors as if they could change the world at will, but rather to try and understand the interaction between the different actors. There are dynamics at play within the educational interactions and available support systems, which lead to certain representations of some of the students. The individual is inhabited by its cultural back-ground or layer. It is part of the biological being, brain and nervous system, part of his or her entire body, interfering with a number of perception patterns and actions. The cultural layer of any individual is actually the least detachable of all layers. The individual gets his or her sense of uniqueness, identity and everything that allows him or her to interact with the world and others from this cultural layer. When getting into further analysis we notice that the individual can become aware of his or her cultural heritage, of his or her representations or habits. The self-image that results from this awareness makes for a richer representation of the cultural layer which can trigger either high or low self-esteem. Our idea of our image usually clashes with the image received from others. Each and every one of us has in some way or the other been judged by his or her respective family, by teachers or other students in the classroom. Everyone feels judged because of his or her own actions, his or her appearance, or what he or she appears to know. Nobody can fully protect him or her-self from judgements passed from third parties, and in some circumstances one might attempt to use these judgements to their advantages, especially when they could lead to more empathy or acknowledgement from a third party. This is the fundamental issue of the educational relationship that would, by allowing struggling students to increase their ambitions by the way of higher self-esteem, allow for better success. In the past, some students were condemned by the system and led to leave the school system early. The way the teacher would perceive the student and poorer children in general did not allow the said student to go beyond elementary school and he or she would very soon join the workforce. Nowadays, despite mandatory education through age sixteen, the representation we have of each student can still affect academic performance and lead to exclusion. This is what we will attempt to explain through an experiment conducted with the different actors in the education field and the tools at their disposal.Perception, performance, success, failure are the different axes of a problem that leads to the predetermined judgment of teachers and the consequences of said perception on the fate of some of the students, keeping in mind that an educator’s main task is to do everything in their power to pass all students. http://www.theses.fr/2015AGUY0850/document | Partager |
Evaluation of Different Handwriting Teaching Methods by Kinematic and Quality Analyses Auteur(s) : D 'antrassi, Pierluigi Ceschia, Paola Mandarino, Carmen Perrone, Iolanda Accardo, Agostino Auteurs secondaires : Dept. of Engineering and Architecture ; University of Trieste Primary School, Don Milani ; Don Milani, Via Don Milani Department of Development Age ; ULSS 7, Via Lubin, International Graphonomics Society (IGS) Université des Antilles (UA) Céline Rémi Lionel Prévost Eric Anquetil Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : International audience Handwriting difficulties represent a common cause of underachievement in children education and low self-esteem in daily life. The analysis of handwriting could be an important tool for the evaluation of a teaching method in order to assess its efficacy in preventing dysgraphia. We performed a comparative analysis of the traditional handwriting method and the alternative Terzi's approach in pupils at the end of primary school, when cursive skills should have been achieved.Qualitative and kinematic parameters were considered: the first ones were calculated as a visual analysis of written texts (by using check-lists and scales regarding qualitative, postural and pen grasp aspects), while the latter ones were automatically extracted through digitizing tablet acquisitions. Results showed significant differences concerning handwriting quality and dynamic movement in pupils handwriting depending on the teaching method applied. 17th Biennial Conference of the International Graphonomics Society Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe hal-01165776 https://hal.univ-antilles.fr/hal-01165776 https://hal.univ-antilles.fr/hal-01165776/document https://hal.univ-antilles.fr/hal-01165776/file/IGS_2015_submission_10.pdf | Partager |

Connectivity, the demographic linking of local populations through the dispersal of individuals as larvae, juveniles or adults, is a key ecological factor to consider in marine reserve design, since it has important implications for the persistence of metapopulations and their recovery from disturbance. For marine reserves to protect biodiversity and enhance populations of species in fished areas, they must be able to sustain focal species (particularly fishery species) within their boundaries, and be spaced such that they can function as mutually replenishing networks whilst providing recruitment subsidies to fished areas. Thus the configuration (size, spacing and location) of individual reserves within a network should be informed by larval dispersal and movement patterns of the species for which protection is required. In the past, empirical data regarding larval dispersal and movement patterns of adults and juveniles of many tropical marine species have been unavailable or inaccessible to practitioners responsible for marine reserve design. Recent empirical studies using new technologies have also provided fresh insights into movement patterns of many species and redefined our understanding of connectivity among populations through larval dispersal. Our review of movement patterns of 34 families (210 species) of coral reef fishes demonstrates that movement patterns (home ranges, ontogenetic shifts and spawning migrations) vary among and within species, and are influenced by a range of factors (e.g. size, sex, behaviour, density, habitat characteristics, season, tide and time of day). Some species move <0.1–0.5 km (e.g. damselfishes, butterflyfishes and angelfishes), <0.5–3 km (e.g. most parrotfishes, goatfishes and surgeonfishes) or 3–10 km (e.g. large parrotfishes and wrasses), while others move tens to hundreds (e.g. some groupers, emperors, snappers and jacks) or thousands of kilometres (e.g. some sharks and tuna). Larval dispersal distances tend to be <5–15 km, and self-recruitment is common. Synthesising this information allows us, for the first time, to provide species, specific advice on the size, spacing and location of marine reserves in tropical marine ecosystems to maximise benefits for conservation and fisheries management for a range of taxa. We recommend that: (i) marine reserves should be more than twice the size of the home range of focal species (in all directions), thus marine reserves of various sizes will be required depending on which species require protection, how far they move, and if other effective protection is in place outside reserves; (ii) reserve spacing should be <15 km, with smaller reserves spaced more closely; and (iii) marine reserves should include habitats that are critical to the life history of focal species (e.g. home ranges, nursery grounds, migration corridors and spawning aggregations), and be located to accommodate movement patterns among these. We also provide practical advice for practitioners on how to use this information to design, evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of marine reserve networks within broader ecological, socioeconomic and management contexts. The main objective is to improve learning process by creating a software tool that participates, from the inception to the achievement, in the design of leaning scenarios, based on context effects, and, to show that context effects' learning is an efficient method in the development of student's knowledge regarding a concept. The software will compute differences between two – or more – external contexts based on specific parameters, related to the phenomenon or object that students are expected to study. The elaboration of the calculator (" the MazCalc ") is conducted using the design based research theory, meaning that several iterations of learning field experiments are conducted in order to collect relevant data which are used for the tool creation. In this paper, the design of the scenario involves students from North America and from the French West Indies and the concept studied is about geothermal energy. The instantiation of the context calculator is made with the geothermal object of study, and the differences are computed in the calculator between the two contexts mentioned. This example makes possible to validate the link between context effects predicted and observed, and also to study the impact of external context on the learning process. This study has been conducted thanks to the GEOTREF project support. Un outil pour organiser l’analyse d’un sujet de mathématiques Auteur(s) : Delcroix, Antoine Silvy, Christian Auteurs secondaires : Centre de recherches et de ressources en éducation et formation (CRREF) ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : International audience The mathematical site of an exercise or a theorem is a useful tool which helps to organize its study, by putting into a hierarchy the various elements (substratum, objects, techniques, technologies) relevant to describe its ecosystem. These characteristics of the mathematical site turn it into a help for the pupil or student (within the framework of an evaluation in mathematics), what we show by the analysis in term of site of a subject given in the competitive ex-amination for secondary school teaching (CAPES) in mathematics. Furthermore, by revealing the organization of a mathematical concept, we show that the site can be a tool for professional training of teachers of mathematics, on the example of the characterization of a constant function on an interval by its derivative. We focus on theNorth-Caribbean plate boundary, specifically in the Dominican Republic, and present some quantificationsof velocities that result from measurements that have been made possible by the instrumentation of the areaby a consortium of researchers from France, the USA and the Dominican Republic, since 1994. Then, wediscuss the velocities in terms of seismic potential of the regional major faults.
