The analysis of humic compounds by elemental analysis, PY-GC-MS and HPLC techniques permitted determination of the origin of organic inputs, essentially terrestrial, and the effects of environmental conditions in the deposits along a north-south transect through the Rhone delta, from the river mouth to the open sea. In the prodelta the sedimentation of fine particles enriches the sediments in organic matter. The humic compound contents were relatively low in sediments, perhaps due to a rapid burying of organic matter which leads to anoxic conditions. In sediments fulvic acids are more abundant than humic acids. Elemental analysis indicated that fulvic acids were enriched in hydrogen and nitrogen as compared to humic acids. Furthermore, H/C and N/C ratios increased in the fulvic and humic acids towards the open sea, related to a more marine character. Pyrolysis analysis showed some differences between the chemical composition of fulvic acids which correspond to low molecular weights enriched in carbohydrates, and that of humic acids, high molecular weight compounds which are enriched in phenols and aromatic hydrocarbons. The pyrolysis-derived phenols were abundant near the river mouth, decreasing towards the open sea as nitrogen-containing-compounds increased. Near the river mouth, the abundance of phenolic aldehydes demonstrated by HPLC emphasized the existence of fresh organic matter. On the other hand, off the mouth, an increase in phenolic acids could indicate a more degraded organic material. The fractionation of humic acids in various classes of molecular weight species using ultrafiltration (Amicon membranes) and their analysis showed that, close to the river mouth, the large proportion of the high molecular weight humic compounds observed was enriched in phenols and carbohydrates, probably inherited from the terrestrial ligno-cellulosic complex. This process seemed to be superimposed on the increase of molecular weights which is usually observed as the environment becomes purely marine. These humic compounds would derived either from organic matter from terrestrial soils swept along by the river flow, after deposition on its bed or, more probably, from high molecular weight compounds which, associated with the mineral phase, flocculated when reaching the fluvio-marine front. Generally, the low molecular weight fractions were enriched in hydrogen and nitrogen. Near the river mouth, nitrogen-containing compounds were concentrated in the low molecular weight classes which correspond to organic molecules regarded as humic precursors. Off the mouth, they were incorporated into the high molecular weight complexes, certainly of marine origin. Étude de matière humique sédimentaire par application de la technique de pyrolyse-chromatographie liquide-chromatographie gazeuse Auteur(s) : Noureddin, S Vandenbroucke, M Courtot, P Éditeur(s) : Gauthier-Villars Résumé : Preparative pyrolysis followed by liquid chromatographic separation and gas chromatography of hydrocarbons (Pyrolysis-LC-GC) were used to study the participation of terrestrial and/or aquatic compounds in the formation of humic substances in sediments. Analyses performed on humic substances from recent sediments sampled in the Elorn river estuary (France) show that these substances are similar in many respects to other lacustrine or marine humic substances, with regard, for instance, to their high nitrogen and sulphur content and their low aromaticity. Mass balances on pyrolysis products and group composition of the C-14+ fraction of the pyrolysates were performed. The distribution of the total alkane and alkene fraction, isocyclo alkanes and alkenes from these humic acid pyrolysates was compared to that of various reference humic acid pyrolysates. The biomarker study (distribution and hopanes/steranes ratios from humic acid pyrolysates) confirms the participation throughout the estuary of algal precursors in the formation of the studied compounds, irrespective of the location of the sampling zone (upstream, median or downstream part of the estuary). In a context of decline of European eel (Anguilla anguilla L.) and search for biological markers of habitat use and quality, a multidisciplinary approach was engaged on the Adour estuary and its associated wetlands. Two axes were developed. The first axe aimed at highlighting the successive presence of the species in different ecosystems based on the otolith elemental composition. The second aimed at the evaluation of the chemical pressure underwent by eels based on the contaminant bioconcentration in soft tissues and the early molecular response to the chemical stress. With a view to the analyses of otolith elemental composition taking into account the 3D structure, the low elemental concentration in the matrix and keeping the finest spatial resolution, four micro sampling strategies and multi elemental analyses using femtosecond laser ablation ICP-MS were tested (crater, 1D scan, 2D scan, flash ablation). The strategy showing the best compromise according to the objectives (continuous recording, multi elemental approach) was applied on otolith of yellow eels from the Adour. The simultaneous use of Sr and Ba profiles, after validation, represents a new tool, easy, fast and reliable for the reconstruction of freshwater and brackish ecosystems use by eel avoiding misinterpretation due to vaterite inclusions. Three major behaviors were highlighted on the Adour: a residency in brackish water, a residency in freshwater and nomad behavior. The last one is illustrated by a shift to brackish water after three to four years spent in freshwater. Simultaneously, the study of inorganic and organic contamination of eel soft tissues showed that sampled wetlands are moderately contaminated. These results were confirmed by the first estimation, in wild conditions, of the early response to the chemical stress using the hepatic expression of CYP1A1 gene measured by real time RT-PCR. Conversely, in the downstream part of the Adour estuary, Hg loads in eels, especially methyl mercury, and PCBs analyses indicate values that need further investigations considering the European norms of consumption. The comparison of the different markers used (heavy metal and organochlorinated compounds contamination of soft tissues, condition index) support a lower quality of the estuary despite higher eel growth rate on this site. This study supports the use of numerous markers in integrated studies in order to understand and specify the relationships between eels and their continental growth zones. Synthèse hydrobiologique du site électronucléaire de Flamanville Auteur(s) : Dreves, Luc Lampert, Luis Abernot, Chantal Martin, Jocelyne Arzel, Pierre Dumas, Franck Latrouite, Daniel Schlaich, Ivan Résumé : This synthesis report assesses the current state of the marine hydrobiological knowledge acquired in the surroundings of the Flamanville electronuclear site (north-west of Cotentin), in the framework of the various project and monitoring programs in the pelagic, benthic and halieutic domains carried out on this site since 1976. Each domain is divided, as much as necessary, into different study areas such as hydrobiology, phytoplankton, microbiology, crustacean larvae or macrophyte algae. For each area, a series of parameters, considered as representative of the evolution of this area, is studied. In this way, for the hydrological area, the sea water temperature and salinity, the mineral nutriment concentrations, the holagen compounds and the boron are monitored. The evolution of each of these parameters enabled us to draw the following conclusions. The vegetal and animal species' physiology is conditioned by climate changes. The study of the pluviometry and air temperature parameters shows that the 1986/2005 period is slightly less humid and warmer than the 1949/2005 period. This reflects also on the sea water temperature whose average values increase on a regular basis. The incorporation of crop wastes or natural materials in the cement matrix confers interesting properties to composites prepared. The aim of this thesis is to develop a material that can reach the mechanical, thermal and durability requirements for building materials in the humid tropical zone. Firstly, pozzolanic activity of a natural pozzolan, bamboo stem and sugar cane bagasse ashes has been determined. Influence of their incorporation on mechanical properties and durability of mortars exposed to chloride and sulphate ions was studied. Secondly, influence of addition of bagasse fibers on thermal and mechanical properties of composites was studied as a function of various parameters (fibers content, curing, type of cement matrix). These results has shown that the materials studied have pozzolanic activity and it is possible to incorporate them into the cement to fight against corrosion. Moreover, composites elaborated with bagasse fibers are more insulating than those elaborated without fibers. However, from the viewpoint of mechanical properties, incorporation of bagasse fibers decreases flexural strength of composites in the present work and under the conditions producing procedures that were adopted. http://www.theses.fr/2014AGUY0804/document | Partager |
