We focus on some French BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur / Advanced Technician Certificate), namely tourism and assistant manager, which are two important diplomas for the local development and in which microeconomic and management sciences plays a great part. The French BTS is a short Vocational Diploma prepared in two years after the “baccalauréat”, with national programs and evaluation criteria.The successful candidates are supposed to be immediately employable, especially in their local geographical environment. Thus, there exists a paradox between the national definition of the diploma and the local contexts of teaching and (supposed) professional integration. However, the professional traineeship plays a great part in this diploma. For this reason, it seems interesting to investigate how the conception of students evolve, with respect to the aforementioned paradox, during and after professional traineeship. For this purpose, questionnaire surveys have been carried out at various moment of the scholar during two years (two cohorts).The main results can be summarized as follows. The professional traineeship is positively perceived by the students at the beginning of the training. They consider it as very important for the development of professional skills. Over time, this positive representation progresses homogeneously. The students are convinced ofthe efficiency of professional traineeship: their professional project strengthened but, they also realize that their professional future will not necessarily be in Guadeloupe. This is probably linked with a better representation of the economic situation of Guadeloupe and shows, as excepted, that the context of the professional traineeship modifies the representation of students. For the BTS assistant manager, we specially note a degradation of the representation of the profession of assistant manager, whereas this training’s choice was realized with conviction.

Theoretical background to study science education contexts

Earthquake, volcanic eruption, cyclone, flood, tsunami, the Caribbean are particularly vulnerable to many natural hazards. Citizen Education to hazard mitigation is much more important in French West Indies than in Paris. With national, curriculum, evaluation and textbooks, how science education in French West Indies manage the challenge to take account this particularity of our territories? Based on this example and others, the aim of this communication is to present a science education theoretical background focus on contexts studies. During science teaching, learning effects due to different context like social, cultural or language could be described as contextual effects. But others micro-didactic effects of contexts could also be identified as linked with specificity of natural environment. These effects manifest a strain between a goal of teaching or learning and its implementation, when this stain is due in the educational process in different contexts involved.To ensure the quality of education, reference and quantify the effects of educational context seems to be necessary. it should be interested in the process leading to the emergence of these contexts. We propose a simplified model of these processes initially described as meetings of mechanisms operating within a network of transposition of designs. Then we question these processes by degree or forms of contextualization (low to high) and crossed these two approaches, giving an initial typology of contextualisation process. It then emerges the idea that these processes are constrained by resistances. We retain the following three: epistemological, social and educational. As these constraints are expressed in different ways according to disciplines, the data suggest the existence of disciplinary contextualization profiles. All these three approaches (network implementation, degree of contextualization, disciplinary profiles) are three tools for analyzing contextual phenomena which remain to test the robustness and operational character for the training analysis context.

Résumé : The volcanic island of Mayotte (374 km super(2)) is part of the Comoros Archipelago, which is situated on the North of Mozambic's Canal (Indian Ocean). Mayotte is composed of two islands and some thirty small islands distributed in a lagoon of more than 1,000 km super(2). Being one of the French Republic's Territorial Collectivity, this island is characterized by a very fast demographic evolution (growth rate : 5.8 %), which constitutes the foundation of the development problematic. Most of local halieutic production comes from the reef (nearly 2,000 t in 1999), the technic of "palangrotte" (deep line) is still dominating. The fishing fleet is composed of monoxyl pirogues and polyester fishing boats for the 1,200 fishermen. The first FADs (Fish Aggregating Devices) were installed in 1989. Now, 5 FADs are situated in the lagoon whereas 10 others have been installed out of it. If it is very hard to evaluate economic impact of FAD in Mayotte, their success seems to be limited because of several local constraints : fear to fish out of the lagoon, little interest in tuna, lack of formation. Nevertheless, faced to the demographic evolution and the decrease of the reef ressources, a program of fishing development on FAD has been initiated in 1998, with those following themes : realization of a new prototype of FAD, experimental fishing program with vertical drift "long line", teaching programs for the local fishermen. Today, it is too early to analyze the informations already collected, but the results are very promising, and validate the technical improvement of the new prototype.Original Abstract: L'ile volcanique de Mayotte (374 km super(2)) fait partie de l'archipel des Comores situe au Nord du canal du Mozambique (ocean Indien). Mayotte comprend deux iles et une trentaine d'ilots repartis dans un lagon de plus de 1 000 km super(2). Collectivite territoriale de la Republique francaise, l'ile se caracterise par une evolution demographique tres rapide (taux de croissance: 5,8 %), qui constitue le socle de toutes les problematiques de developpement. L'essentiel de la production halieutique provient du milieu recifal (environ 2 000 t en 1999), la peche a la ligne de fond reste la technique dominante. La flottille de peche est constituee de pirogues monoxyles et de barques polyester pour une population de 1 200 pecheurs. Les premiers DCP mahorais furent installes en 1989. A ce jour, on denombre cinq DCP dans le lagon et dix hors lagon. Il semble que leur succes soit reste limite en raison de plusieurs contraintes locales : peur de la peche hors lagon, peu d'interet pour les poissons pelagiques, manque de formation. Neanmoins, face a l'explosion demographique et a l'appauvrissement des ressources lagonaires, un nouveau programme de developpement de la peche sur DCP a ete initie en 1998. Ce programme comporte trois axes : realisation d'un nouveau prototype de DCP, lancement d'un programme de peches experimentales a la palangre verticale derivante et formation des pecheurs. A ce jour, les informations obtenues sont trop parcellaires pour etre analysees mais les donnees et observations realisees sur les nouveaux dispositifs permettent de valider leur conception technique.

This thesis sets out to examine the problems of description and specification pertaining to the C levels of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages , known as the experienced–user levels (C1 - Autonomy and C2 - Mastery), for French. It forms part of the efforts to establish yardsticks suggested by the Council of Europe and undertaken in various European countries, including France, whereby the A and B levels have already been described (J.C. Beacco, S. Bouquet, R. Porquier, 2004 ; J.C. Beacco, R. Porquier, 2007 ; J.C. Beacco, S. Lepage, R. Porquier, P. Riba, 2008 ; J.C. Beacco, B. Blin, E. Houles, S. Lepage, P. Riba, pending publication). The notional and functional components, discourse genres, functions, notions, morphosyntactic categories, phonetic content and cultural competencies and learner strategies pertaing to levels C1 and C2 have been described based on three methodological approaches that are respectively intuitive, experimental and based on the creation of standards. The thesis focuses on researching the cut-off points between levels B2, C1 and C2, which are of use to designers of teaching methods and curricula, examination writers and teachers, and it proposes the establishment of a C2+ level, which is didactically compatible with the contradictory notions of “final language level˝ and lifelong learning.
Cette thèse a pour objet la problématique de la description et la spécification des niveaux C duCadre européen commun de référence pour les langues, dits niveaux de l’utilisateurexpérimenté (C1 autonome, C2 maîtrise) pour le français. Elle s’inscrit dans la dynamique deréférentialisation souhaitée par le Conseil de l’Europe et engagée dans plusieurs payseuropéens, y compris en France, où les niveaux A et B ont déjà été décrits : B2, (J.C. Beacco,S. Bouquet, R. Porquier, (2004), A1, J.C. Beacco, R. Porquier, (2007), A2, J.C. Beacco, S.Lepage, R. Porquier, P. Riba, (2008), B1, J.C. Beacco, B. Blin, E. Houles, S. Lepage, P. Riba,(2010).La description des éléments notionnels et fonctionnels des niveaux C1 et C2, genresdiscursifs, fonctions, notions, catégories morphosyntaxiques, matière phonique, matièregraphique, compétences culturelles et stratégies d’apprentissage, a été établie en suivant troisvoies méthodologiques, intuitive, expérimentale et d’étalonnage.Elle se focalise sur la recherche des points de césure entre B2, C1 et C2 utiles pour les auteursde méthodes ou de curriculums, les concepteurs d’examens et les enseignants et elle proposeune spécification d’un niveau C2+, didactiquement compatible avec les notions paradoxalesde « dernier niveau de langue » et d’apprentissage tout au long de la vie.
