Les Systèmes de licences de pêche : le cas de la Méditerranée française Auteur(s) : Meuriot, Eric Dremiere, Pierre-yves Meuriot, Eric Dremiere, Pierre-yves Éditeur(s) : Ifremer Résumé : The subject of this study is to examine the operation and implications of the system of licenses for bottom trawling implemented in the French Mediterranean, this compared with the context of fishing in this area during the last twenty years. The study begins with a review and assessment of the evaluation criteria proposed in the economic literature. This review of the literature is done to find an approach for analysing licensing systems. The study then recounts the main stages of the implementation of the licensing system for trawling in the Mediterranean as well as the context of fishing. After a description of the licensing system and a reminder of the objectives and arguments defended by the various participating groups, the study examines its operation as well as some of its consequences. These latter are captured as much by comparing the criteria from the theory as the objectives pursued. In conclusion, the study brings out the lessons and perspectives of the licensing system. The reader wishing to have a detailed analysis of the economic evolution of trawling in the French Mediterranean can refer specifically to the work of MEURIOT and DREMIERE (1986) meant to round out this study. ISBN-13 978-2-84433-047-5 ISBN-10 978-2-84433-047-5 Résumé : The international symposium "Tuna Fishing and Fish Aggregating Devices " , October 1999, in Martinique, takes stock of the exploitation of large pelagic fish around FADs, based on regional synthesis for the three oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. Main themes include technology, fishing methods, impact on resources, biology of fish aggregation, anthropology and economic aspects of FAD exploitation. The meeting will gather and disseminate results from recent and ongoing studies on FADs in the different oceans of the world, enhance collaboration between scientists and managers involved in the development of FADs, promote the emergence of scientific and technical research, form a network for cooperation and enhance communications between researchers in the different locations concerned. Ifremer Brest [ACTES COLLOQ. IFREMER.]. 1992 Résumé : The specific analysis of preys allows to determine the composition of cuttlefishes alimentary diet in natural conditions. This analysis based on exploitation of stomachal contents shows a majority of Fishes and Brachyura Crustaceans consumed. The alimentary diet with a Fish dominance in winter area (off Belle-Ille island) becomes a Crustacea dominance when adult cuttlefishes come in Morbihan Bay, in March, for reproduction. As for newly-born, they eat exclusively Crustacean Amphipoda and Macrura.
Auteur(s) : Weber, Jacques Éditeur(s) : Ifremer Résumé : The external trade deficit of seafood is a subject of general concern, for the administration as it is for the profession and for research. From IFREMER's inception, its president, Mr SILLARD, made this problem one of the major guiding factors of the Institute by asking, as early as 1984, research teams to provide him with a complete and detailed view of the evaluation of seafood in France. The objective assigned to this task was twofold: assess France's room for manoeuvre and establish a research policy that must contribute to the improvement of this room for manoeuvre. The external trade deficit of sea products is a significant, long-term, structural problem to which it is conceivable to apply partial solutions. It is a national and therefore governmental problem: but it does not make it possible to judge the economic health of the fishing and marine farming sector. Its very importance tends to mask that of the challenges that management of the fishing and marine farming sector represents, a bit like a large tree hiding a forest, which we would like to try to show in this short article that does not, far from it, pretend to exhaust the subject. Ifremer. Brest [ACTES COLLOQ. IFREMER.]. 1988 Résumé : Since nearly twenty years, world exploitation of crustaceans increases from 1,263,000 tons in 1968 to 3,419,000 tons in 1985, overcoming the predictions of 1970 by more than one million tons. Penaeid prawns fisheries experienced a very fast development. The krill resource proved to be practically commercially unworkable. By now, the major crustaceans stocks appear fully exploited. During the same period, penaeid aquaculture experienced a fast growth, which should continue in the near future. Ifremer. Brest [ACTES COLLOQ. IFREMER.]. 1988 Résumé : Shrimp and prawn aquaculture is developing fast and amounts presently to 8% of world consumption. It concerns mainly various species of penaeids and is done with different techniques where feeding plays a variable role. This role is discussed both in the case of more or less extensive farming and in the case of intensive farming. The lack of knowledge in the field of nutrition itself is emphasized as well as the importance of feed technology both for juvenile foods and larval microcapsules or microparticles. Energy-protein management by some warmwater finfishes. Auteur(s) : Luguet, P Moreau, Y Éditeur(s) : Actes de colloques Ifremer, Tahiti, French Polynesia, 20 Feb - 4 Mar 1989, n°9, chap. 68, pp.751-755 Résumé : If warmwater finfish protein requirements as level in diet is low, absolute intake per day is similar to those of coldwater species. But relation of this requirement with specific growth rate differs for strictly warmwater fishes as Tilapias. Analysis of partition between protein and non-protein energy retention shows that these species with Clarias make a better use of non-protein energy provided and consequently improve their protein retention. Better carbohydrate digestibility and metabolism are propounded as part of the explanation. Problems and perspectives of the pearl oyster aquaculture in French Polynesia. Auteur(s) : Cabral, P Éditeur(s) : Actes de colloques Ifremer, Tahiti, French Polynesia, 20 Feb - 4 Mar 1989, n°9, chap. 7, pp.57-66 Résumé : The first attempt to obtain artificial pearls from the black-lip pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera in French Polynesia dates back to 1963. The pearl oyster culture has grown quickly especially since the eighties. This industry is now the first exportation in value of French Polynesia. 19 atolls of the Tuamotus island have at this time one or more farms and this activity has more and more attractiveness. The rise of this industry has consequently a lot of socio-ecomic repercussions on these atolls. However, as a young industry, the technics and the development are not always controlled and a lot of problems appeared these last years. Ifremer. Brest [ACTES COLLOQ. IFREMER.]. 1985 Résumé : The aquaculture of Macrobrachium rosenbergii is launched in Martinigue by the regional council in 1976. A first "green water" type hatchery is built and provides juveniles to the first ponds. In 1978, CNEXO is asked to cooperate in scientific assistance. A new hatchery is built with COP "clear water" system and produces in 1980. The development of ponds (20 ha) needs the increase of the hatcheries capacity, which is now done with one single method and intensive larval first stage (7-8 millions PL. cap). In Guadeloupe, the first ponds started in 1978. Two cooperatives and 11 ha of ponds at this time have determined the construction of CNEXO in the construction of a regional hatchery. A small light one is already under production since July 83.
