Patrones de abundancia y composicion del zooplancton costero a varias escalas temporales en un ciclo de surgencia estacional en la Isla de Margarita, Venezuela Auteur(s) : Hernandez, Ivan Gaspar, Alfredo Éditeur(s) : Interciencia Résumé : Zooplankton abundance, biomass and composition were evaluated in various temporal scales in a seasonal coastal upwelling system at Margarita Island, Venezuela. Scales of temporal variation include weeks, months and seasons (relaxation, upwelling and transition). Seasons were delimitated by upwelling index and sea temperature. The sampling period comprise Sept/2002 - July/2003. Zooplankton samplings were made by horizontal trawls (1-10m depth), using 200,mu m nets, 2-6km from the coastal margin. Total abundance show important variation at week scales, with different patterns between locations, while seasonal differences of abundance are marginal. Biomass only shows seasonal variation due significant reduction in the transition season. Zooplankton assemblages show changes at scale of weeks, with different local patterns, and seasonal changes. Changes in assemblage between the relaxation and upwelling seasons include reduction (during upwelling) of abundance in copepods, cladocerans, salpidae, chaetognates, fish and crustacea larvae. Except by cirripedia larvae, those were important in the upwelling assemblages. Transition shows high variation, with reduction of biomass and assemblage composition similar to upwelling, except by an isolated event. Small scale variation in the zooplankton could be related to physical processes at small scales, eg. turbulence, local circulation, small eddies and filaments, and biological response. Additional sources of nutrient input, eg. riverine input and internal waves, could support local plankton productivity and abundance during relaxation. Detection of high variation in zooplankton abundance and composition at small scales, with local interaction, bring a new light over zooplankton estimation in time series in this system. Martinique possesses 55 km2 of coral reefs, 50 of sea grass and 20 of mangroves. These three ecosystems produce services for a value estimated at 250 millions € per year. About 60% of this value originates from directs uses such as recreational activities (diving, excursions, beach activities, etc.) induce by tourism and fishery. Ecosystem services (indirect uses) such as coastal protection, carbon sequestration, biomass production and water purification are significant since their sum value reaches annually 94 millions € (38% of the total economic value). Non-use value links to the improvement of the health of coastal ecosystem is estimated to 10 millions € per year. At the ecosystem level, sea grass and mangrove contribute the more (per km2) to the wealth creation (respectively 2,16 millions €/km2, 1,87 million €/km2 against 1,78 million €/km2 for the reefs). They need therefore to benefit from protection and management measures in the same magnitude than the reefs already received. Détection satellitaire et modélisation opérationnelle de la production végétale non-fixée dans la bande côtière bretonne ; Remote sensing and operationnal modelling of non-fixed algal production on the French Brittany coastal shelf Auteur(s) : Penard, Cédric Éditeur(s) : Université de Bretagne Occidentale Résumé : The negative impact of the man on the environment unquestionably increases. The coastal environment as a whole is the maritime environment which is the most exposed to man-made eutrophication. For instance, nitrate loads to coastal waters off Brittany (France) have increased 10 times (from 3 to s 30mg L-1NO3) during the four last decades. Eutrophication of this coastal zone is now a recurrent problem, more and more worrying. This eutrophication exhibits two main forms : " green tides ", which are caused by local proliferations and stranding of green macro-algae (particularly the Ulva species) in nitrogen-enriched areas ; phytoplanktonic blooms, which are responsible for coloured water events, toxic species can be present (Pseudo-Nitzschia, Alexandrium, Dinophysis), and induce banning of shellfish consumption. The objectives of this study are to assess the respective role of various rivers (especially the Loire and the Vilaine) in the eutrophication of the Brittany shelf ecosystem and test the impact of nitrogen enrichment in the triggering of Pseudo-Nitzchia toxicity. For these purposes, a coupled hydrodynamical/ biogeochemical 3D model has been developed and validated against past measured time-series and satellite images. After a brief analysis of primary production over the Brittany shelf under different conditions, we show a description of the real time adaptation of this model. Daily results are currently presented in real time on www.previmer.org web site. The inability of the model to correctly simulate near shore phytoplankton is worsened in this model by the fact that the turbidity field used is a climatological one, made by satellite images averaged on a decadal basis. First, near shore pixels of satellite images are scarcely reliable, secondly a climatological mean cannot represent the sudden bursts or drops of the real turbidity, highly dependent on the actual sea-state : this can explain also why the model at this moment fails to reproduce a sudden bloom occurring in a short period of sunny and calm weather. The simulated Pseudo-Nitzschia biomass and induced risk of toxicity in the water column cannot really be validated offshore, because monitoring measurements are available only near the coast, and deal only with toxicity in benthic filter feeders. To get temporarily rid of that problem, an interesting improvement would be to add to the operational model the bio-accumulation of toxin in the shellfishes : simulated concentrations in shellfish fresh would become directly comparable with usual measurements of the monitoring networks. Our model points out the important impact of Loire river loads on the primary production on the western and southern Brittany. This result is crucial for administrations in charge of reducing the terrestrial loadings responsible for eutrophication, because it can delay reduction programs on small tributaries until the main input from the Loire has been significantly reduced. A question arises, about the reliability of the haline stratification in the model, because the horizontal extent of the Loire plume will be enhanced by a stronger stratification. The development of the purse seine fishery on drifting Fish Aggregating devices in the Eastern Pacific Ocean: 1992-1998 Auteur(s) : Lennert-cody, Ce Hall, Melanie Éditeur(s) : Pêche thonière et dispositifs de concentration de poissons, Caribbean-Martinique, 15-19 Oct 1999 15-19 octobre 1999 Résumé : Since the early 1990s, drifting Fish Aggregating Devices, or FADs, have rapidly become the dominant type of floating object used by the purse seine fishery in the Eastern Pacific Ocean to capture tunas. The development of this fishery for larger vessels is described using data collected by observers aboard vessels of more than 363 metric tons fish-carrying capacity. Bamboo rafts, equipped with radio-transmitters that allow for semi-continuous monitoring, are typically used as FADs. Old purse seine netting is often suspended below the bamboo raft to give the FAD an enhanced underwater profile. Similar to the fishery on flotsam between 1992-1998, most sets on FADs were made before 8 am, with skipjack and bigeye being the dominant tuna species caught, and yellowfin tuna captured in lesser amounts. Discard ratios of skipjack and bigeye were comparable for the two modes of fishing; however, the success rate on FADs for bigeye was more than twice that on non-FAD floating objects ("logs"). In addition, the fishery on logs was largely a coastal hshery, while the fishery on FADs extended west to 150 W, into areas that had not been significantly utilized by the purse seine fleet. The capture of tunas per set varied most with area, season and year. Nonetheless, capture per set for at least one of the three tuna species was also found to vary with the depth of the purse seine net and the amount of the netting hanging below the FAD. The effect of net depth and FAD depth on tuna capture varied by area, season and FAD color. The infection of bats and their ticks with zoonotic bacteria, especially Rickettsia species, is so far unknown. In order to improve knowledge of these zoonotic pathogens in this French overseas department, the presence and diversity of tick-borne bacteria was investigated with molecular tools in bat ticks. In the beginning of 2013, 32 bats were caught in Saint-Jean-du-Maroni, an area close to the coast of French Guiana, and the ticks of these animals were collected. A total of 354 larvae of Argasidae soft ticks (Ornithodoros hasei) from 12 bats (Noctilio albiventris) were collected and 107 of them were analysed. DNA was extracted from the samples and quantitative real-time PCR was carried out to detect Rickettsia spp., Bartonella spp., Borrelia spp. and Coxiella burnetii. All tested samples were negative for Bartonella spp., Borrelia spp. and Coxiella burnetii. Rickettsia DNA was detected in 31 (28.9%) ticks. An almost entire (1118 base pairs long) sequence of the gltA gene was obtained after the amplification of some positive samples on conventional PCR and sequencing. A Bayesian tree was constructed using concatenated rrs, gltA, ompA, ompB, and gene D sequences. The study of characteristic sequences shows that this Rickettsia species is very close (98.3-99.8%) genetically to R. peacockii. Nevertheless, the comparative analysis of sequences obtained from gltA, ompA, ompB, rrs and gene D fragments demonstrated that this Rickettsia is different from the other members of the spotted fever group. The sequences of this new species were deposited in GenBank as Candidatus Rickettsia wissemanii. This is the first report showing the presence of nucleic acid of Rickettsia in Ornithodoros hasei ticks from South American bats. (C) 2016 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved. Management of the coastal biophysical environment in tropical Queensland under conditions of heavy developmental pressure: the case of tourist resorts and acid sulphate soils Auteur(s) : Erfurt-Haupt, Patricia Cooper, Malcolm Éditeur(s) : Université des Antilles Études caribéennes Résumé : The tropical coast of Queensland, Australia is experiencing rapid population and tourism growth. Heavy development pressure is being placed on the biophysical environment, which includes the largest sand island in the world (World Heritage listed), Fraser Island. Despite the existence of State planning legislation oriented towards environmental sustainability, it is apparent that little, if any, regard is being paid to the long-term effects of resort and canal-estate development on the underlying biophysical environment of the coast and islands. While the remarkable surface features of the tropical coastal environment such as the surf beaches, the unique dune lakes, and the coastal vegetation, as well as the prolific wildlife, are used as selling points for new settlement and above all tourism, little is known or apparently of major concern with respect to the long term environmental impact of coastal development. While the crowding effect of large numbers of visitors and their impact on the natural environment - through significant degradation, site hardening or lack of proper on-site management – has been identified as a particular problem in certain areas, there is little knowledge of impacts on the underlying coastal geomorphology. In particular, developmental choices are often made in ignorance of, or disregard of, the widespread existence of tropical acid sulfate soils in that coastal environment. Reactive soils such as these can, and do, greatly affect the biophysical outcomes of a development if they are exposed. This paper documents such impacts in the form of a case study of the acid sulfate soil problem in relation to the development of tourist resorts, and suggests that part of the solution is for the State Government to insist on enforceable standards relating to their development for tourism in the coastal zone. These would reduce the use by many resort owners of fancy golf course developments as an environmental cover up to make it look as if they put a lot of effort into protecting the environment…. Small scale fisheries in Europe: A comparative analysis based on a selection of case studies Auteur(s) : Guyader, Olivier Berthou, Patrick Koutsikopoulos, Constantin Alban, Frederique Demaneche, Sebastien Gaspar, M. B. Eschbaum, R. Fahy, E. Éditeur(s) : Elsevier Science Bv Résumé : Small-scale fisheries have traditionally received less research effort than large-scale fisheries and are generally under-studied in Europe. In spite of their comparatively low volume of catches and economic importance, small-scale fisheries are socially important and an integral part of the European coastal zone. Considering the high heterogeneity of situations and the paucity of quantitative data, we used an analytical methodology based on the comparative method. We carried out an analysis of small-scale fisheries (SSFs) in Europe based on a selection of nine case studies. Our objective was to obtain a comprehensive description of small-scale fleets covering different areas/fisheries/species, encompassing the diversity and specific conditions under which SSFs operate, in order to demonstrate the ecological and social sustainability of this often overlooked fisheries segment. A common approach formulated so that the case studies could be compared with the case histories of other competing users, required that for each set of criteria – technical, biological, socio-economic, and institutional – a set of relevant items and indicators was established. An analysis of characteristics common to the selected case studies is conducted and an attempt made to extend our comparisons to the whole of the European Union. Our results show that (as compared with large-scale fleets, their main competitor) small-scale fleets: (i) are composed of smaller vessels and, consequently, travel lower distances to fishing grounds, and are more reliant on coastal areas; (ii) have smaller crews (although the global employment figure is similar to that of large-scale fleets in Europe); (iii) use mostly, but not exclusively, passive gears; (iv) use multi-purpose fishing approaches, and can change the fish species they target during the year; (v) have lower extraction rates; (vi) have lower total capital investments (including fishing rights), turnover and costs; and (vii) have lower fuel consumption, making them less sensitive to changing oil prices. Dependence on subsidies is lower (viii). Involvement in fisheries management is variable, conservation and access regulation measures are largely local in origin. For the selected case studies, the most significant competitors are large-scale fleets, and recreational fisheries, but other sources of interaction (water quality, invasive species, etc.) cannot be ignored. Campagnes 2011 Auteur(s) : Bertrand, Jacques Dromer, Clement Reynal, Lionel Résumé : Spiny lobsters are an important component of the coastal fisheries around the Martinique island. This study aimed to assess the contamination by kepone of the two main species Panulirus argus and P. guttatus in the main fishery area laying along the eastern coast of Martinique. The objectives of the study were to describe the distribution of the spiny lobster contamination in the area, to explore possible relationships with some biological parameters such as individual size, sex and colour of tegument, as well as characterize difference of kepone concentration between the muscle and soft flesh of the head, in view of helping the definition of further fishery management measures. The analyses were done from chemical analyses of 125 samples of spiny lobsters gathered from 2008 to 2010 all around the island, and from a specific set of 200 new observations from a specific survey carried out in 2011 in the study area.
For both species, the results show a diffusion of the contamination all over the coral shoals, close to contaminated catchment basins, with a strong decrease just outside these areas. For the Caribbean spiny lobster, a strong relationship between kepone concentration and individual size was identified, and less for the Spotted spiny lobster. For the two species, the concentration of kepone found in soft flesh of the head was more than twice as in the muscle. Finally, the difference of contamination between the two species appeared strongly linked with their biology. The present work expresses the will of Caribbean researchers to improve the meso- and micro-meteorological scientific knowledge of the trade winds influenced island areas, and to develop research in these domains. It is well known that tropical hurricanes remain the most remarkable meteorological phenomena that affect the Caribbean islands. But some other phenomena, of smaller scale, such as intense rainfall events, swells, or air quality degradation, are of extreme importance for natural or health hazards. These examples show the need to use downscaling methods to exploit large scale meteorological or climatic information, and to obtain local and regional scenarios for the island areas. This is an important challenge, as sound scientific studies in these matters are eagerly expected. The aim of the research works exposed in the present dissertation is numerical simulation and analysis of the meso- and microscale mechanisms that induce diurnal and nocturnal local circulations in the Guadeloupe archipelago, using numerical meteorological models that are widely used in research and in operational forecasting. These works represent the first high-resolution (1 km to 111 m) numerical study of the lower atmosphere over the Guadeloupe archipelago. The Weather Research and Forecasting ARW 3.4 (WRF-ARW) model is used to simulate the troposphere from global scale to turbulence scale. Real cases of three typical weather types (80% of cases during a year) are examined during 48 hours : strong trade winds (STW), medium trade winds (MTW) and weak trade winds (WTW). These weather types are characterized by values of the local Froude number : 0.82 (STW), 0.41 (MTW) and 0.21 (WTW). Six domains have been selected for the dynamical downscaling : D01 (grid spacing of 27 km), D02 (grid spacing of 9 km), D03 (grid spacing of 3 km), D04 (grid spacing of 1 km), D05 (grid spacing of 333 m) and D06 (grid spacing of 111 m), including 70 vertical levels. The first four domains (D01 to D04) cover the Guadeloupe archipelago and are used in the meso-scale simulations with the planetary boundary layer scheme YSU (ensemble mean). Domain D05 (covering the Basse-Terre island and the middle of the archipelago) and domain D06 (covering the coastal and rural area of Le Petit Cul-de-Sac Marin and the urban area of Pointe-à-Pitre), are employed in the micro-scale simulation (LES) with the 3D TKE 1.5 order closure scheme. WRF has been 6 hourly reinitialized with the NCEP FNL global analyses (resolution of 1°). These simulations permitted to obtain 10-minutes meteorological variable fields with a very high resolution (111 m).Meso-scale and micro-scale model results have been evaluated with observational data from meteorological stations (field campaign Atmo-Mangrov, French Met Office).Once validated, the micro-scale model outputs have been used for the assimilation of the lagrangian particle dispersion model : FLEXPART. The coupling FLEXPART-WRF has been employed in domain D06, in order to analyze the dispersion of the nitrogen oxide plume emitted by the main power plant of the archipelago. http://www.theses.fr/2014AGUY0735/document | Partager |
Observations sous-marines des communautes de poissons agregees autour des DCP en Martinique: resultats preliminaires Auteur(s) : Laurans, Martial Taquet, Marc Reynal, Lionel Lagin, Alain-sabin Éditeur(s) : Pêche thonière et dispositifs de concentration de poissons, Caribbean-Martinique, 15-19 Oct 1999 Résumé : Fishing with a beach seine for catching small pelagic fishes is a traditional activity in Martinique. Since the early eighties, an important decrease in the number of fishermen practising this activity has been recorded. In the context of high exploitation of reef resources, the beach seine presents a low selectivity, catching too many juveniles of demersal fish. The fads established in coastal areas, have been successfully used in others regions of the world for exploiting small pelagics. Thus, it could allow to favour a change of exploitation style of these resources in Martinique. In partnership, Ifremer, the Regional Council and the Fishing Committee have began an evaluation of the potentialities for this type of structures around the island. To achieve this study, several experimental coastal fads have been established in different places. Surveys by subaquatic observations are periodically carried out to compare the attractive power of different aggregation devices (colour, shape, volume) and understand the factors influencing the determinism of the aggregation (biotic and abiotic). The results presented and discussed correspond to the initial stage of this study which should be pursued in the next months. Fishing strategies, economic performance and management of moored fishing aggregating devices in Guadeloupe Auteur(s) : Guyader, Olivier Bellanger, Manuel Reynal, Lionel Demaneche, Sebastien Berthou, Patrick Éditeur(s) : Edp Sciences S A Résumé : Moored FADs (MFADs) have been a key area for development in Guadeloupe (Lesser Antilles) since the late 1980's. The main objectives underpinning the development of MFADs were to (i) reduce fishing pressure on coastal fishing resources; (ii) boost fishermen's incomes; and (iii) increase local consumption of locally generated fishery products as a proportion of overall consumption. This paper gives an overview of the current structure of Guadeloupe's fishing fleet and fisheries, with a specific focus on MFAD fleets in a relatively unstructured environment with regard to regulation, and so how these fleets operate in a context of unrestricted development of private MFADs. In addressing the following key issues, this paper aims to: assess the economic performance of fleets operating on MFADs, understand why the MFAD fishing activity has not developed more than it has, and suggest how better MFAD management could improve the situation. Socio-economic information on a trip and fleet level basis were collected and stored on a fisheries information system to analyse the relative attractiveness of MFAD fishing and assess the overall economic performance of MFAD fleets as compared to other non-MFAD fleets. Non-monetary variables were also tested to explain the degree of dependence on MFADs. In 2008, economic returns from FADs were relatively low, both in terms of wages for the crews and in terms of profit for vessel owners. Earnings were higher than coastal fishing activities, but seem to have been very sensitive to the indicators used in our analysis. MFADs are expected to become much more attractive as a result of MFAD regulation, especially through the establishment of collective MFADs. La lettre du Cnexo n° 3 Août Septembre 1980 Auteur(s) : Claude, Benoit Éditeur(s) : Cnexo Résumé : Article 246 of the international agreement on marine legislation project deals with the practical conditions of scientific research in the exclusive economic area and on the continental shelf. We feel heavily concerned by this article and the first consequences of this new legislation begin to be felt in a very unpleasant way. In a large portion of seas and oceans, corresponding to the exclusive economic areas, research is subjected to the authorisation granted "in normal circumstances" by coastal states if it is conducted "exclusively for a peaceful purpose and in the aim to increase the scientific knowledge on marine environment in the interest of the whole of humanity." Seismicity patterns along the Ecuadorian subduction zone: new constraints from earthquake location in a 3-D a priori velocity model, Auteur(s) : Font, Y. Segovia, M. Vaca, S. Theunissen, T. The 3-DVM is constructed from the integration of geophysical and geological data that depend on the structural geometry and velocity properties of the crust and the upper mantle. In addition, specific station selection is carried out to compensate for the high station density on the Andean Chain. 3-D synthetic experiments are then designed to evaluate the network capacity to recover the event position using only P arrivals and the MAXI technique. Three synthetic earthquake location experiments are proposed: (1) noise-free and (2) noisy arrivals used in the 3-DVM, and (3) noise-free arrivals used in a 1-DVM. Synthetic results indicate that, under the best conditions (exact arrival data set and 3-DVM), the spatiotemporal configuration of the Ecuadorian network can accurately locate 70 per cent of events in the frontal part of the subduction zone (average azimuthal gap is 289° ± 44°). Noisy P arrivals (up to ± 0.3 s) can accurately located 50 per cent of earthquakes. Processing earthquake location within a 1-DVM almost never allows accurate hypocentre position for offshore earthquakes (15 per cent), which highlights the role of using a 3-DVM in subduction zone. For the application to real data, the seismicity distribution from the 3-D-MAXI catalogue is also compared to the determinations obtained in a 1-D-layered VM. In addition to good-quality location uncertainties, the clustering and the depth distribution confirm the 3-D-MAXI catalogue reliability. The pattern of the seismicity distribution (a 13 yr record during the inter-seismic period of the seismic cycle) is compared to the pattern of rupture zone and asperity of the Mw = 7.9 1942 and the Mw = 7.7 1958 events (the Mw = 8.8 1906 asperity patch is not defined). We observe that the nucleation of 1942, 1958 and 1906 events coincides with areas of positive Simple Bouguer anomalies and areas where marine terraces are still preserved on the coastal morphology. From north to south: (1) the 1958 rupture zone is almost aseismic and is attributed to a zone of high coupling; (2) south of the Galera alignment (perpendicular to the trench), the 1942 rupture zone presents moderate seismicity, deeper on the seismogenic interplate zone, and abutting on the Jama cluster (to the south). This cluster is facing the Cabo Pasado cap and positive Bouguer anomalies on the overriding margin. We suspect that this cluster reflects a zone of local asperity (partial coupling). South of the Jama cluster, the spherical aseismic zone in the Bahia area is interpreted as having a low seismic coupling (steady creep motion or slow slip events). We suspect that the site that generated the three M > 7 events (1896, 1956 and 1998) correspond to a small patch of strong coupling. To the south, in the Manta-Puerto Lopez zone, the seismicity is mainly organized in earthquake swarms (1998, 2002, 2005). Although slow slip events have been observed in the area (Vallée et al. submitted), we infer from the coastline shape, the marine terraces and the high positive Bouguer anomalies that the seismicity here might reveal a significant amount of seismic coupling. The carrier ship's deballasting activity in french ports and coastal areas can introduce unwanted or noxious species, with detrimental economical and sociological consequences upon shore based activities ; These activities represent one of the most preeminent sources for employment and incomes along the french coasts ,via coastal fishing, aquaculture, tourism. A ship's ballast water study in sorne french ports has been carried out ,to seek for presence of harmfull or pathogenic organisms. Results let appear pathogenic bacteriae in half of the ships, and weIl known toxic phytoplancton species (from Spain ,north Africa) The technical problem of ballast water treatment is considered. Designing indicators for assessing the effects of marine protected areas on coral reef ecosystems: A multidisciplinary standpoint Auteur(s) : Pelletier, Dominique Garcia Charton, Jose Ferraris, Jocelyne David, Gilbert Thebaud, Olivier Letourneur, Yves Claudet, Joachim Amand, Marion Éditeur(s) : EDP Sciences Résumé : The present paper aims at identifying and assessing indicators of the effects of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in coral reef regions, based on a bibliography review in ecology, economics and social sciences. First the various effects Studied within each of these domains and the variables used to measure them were censused. Potential ecological indicators were assessed through their link with the question used (here termed "relevance") and their "effectiveness" which encompasses the issues of precision, accuracy and statistical power. Relevance and effectiveness were respectively measured by the frequency of use of each indicator and the proportion of significant results in the reviewed articles. For social and economic effects, the approach was not possible due to the low number of references: we thus discussed the issue of finding appropriate indicators for those fields. Results indicate: 1- the unbalance in literature between disciplines: 2- the need for protocols and methodologies which include controls in order to assess MPA effects: 3- an important proportion of ecological indicators with low effectiveness: 4- the large number of ecological effects still not studied or not demonstrated at present. Rapport sur l'exercice de la pêche dans la zone côtière de la France Auteur(s) : Bolopion, Jacques Forest, Andre Sourd, Louis-julien Bolopion, Jacques Forest, Andre Sourd, Louis-julien Résumé : The maritime fisheries and mariculture guidance law passed in 1997 specifies that with the perspective of renegotiation of the common fisheries policy in 2002, a report on the special conditions of inshore fisheries be drawn up by the Government. To do so, the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries entrusted this task to three experts, who are the authors of this report. In accordance with their remit, the situation of fisheries in territorial waters and estuaries of metropolitan France and the four DOM overseas departments ( counties) was examined, in the framework of meetings with professional fishermen, administrations, elected officials and scientific organisations. The first part situates fishing activities in coastal areas within the overall context of French fisheries. The second part provides a detailed report for each seafront (Channel, Atlantic, Mediterranean, West Indies, French Guyana and Reunion Island) on the regulatory framework, fleets, stocks, uses of resources and vulnerable areas of interest for fisheries. The report then analyses the competition within fisheries and with other activities (recreational fishing, extraction of aggregates, tourism, etc.). After these observations, the authors make ten proposals to improve the conditions under which coastal or inshore fisheries are practiced.
