Université des Antilles Description : In the current ecological, economic and social context, the systematic use of drugs (prescription or self-medication) has direct health and environmental consequences. As a result, it is important to understand their perception by their main consumers. In this sense, social and environmental psychology aims to highlight the socio-psychological factors likely to influence the actors to adopt new practices or not (Zbinden et al., 2011). The present study, conducted in 2016 in CACEM territory, focuses on the analysis of social representations (SR) of drugs of the population from Martinique. The theory of SR allows the analysis of this mediation between man and his physical and social environment because these representations are highly contextualized and depend on the social anchoring of the groups (Doise, 1992). Impact of social inequality and air pollution on the risk of adverse birth outcomes in the mother-child cohort PELAGIE : role of urban-rural context ; Impact des inégalités sociales et de la pollution atmosphérique sur le risque d'issues défavorable de grossesse dans la cohorte mère-enfant PELAGIE : rôle du contexte urbain-rural Auteur(s) : Bertin, Mélanie Auteurs secondaires : Institut de recherche, santé, environnement et travail [Rennes] (Irset) ; Université d'Angers (UA) - Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) - Université de Rennes 1 (UR1) - École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique [EHESP] (EHESP) - Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) - Structure Fédérative de Recherche en Biologie et Santé de Rennes ( Biosit : Biologie - Santé - Innovation Technologique ) Institut de recherche en santé environnement et travail -- Rennes Université Rennes 1 Jean-François Viel Cécile Chevrier Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : Pregnancy is a sensitive and critical period for the development of the child and the health of adults-to-be. The biological and physiological adaptation of the body dealing physical and psychosocial stressors during this period may exert its effects in adulthood (and possibly over several generations). This delayed toxicity presupposes intrinsically the need to study the effects of exposure to environmental risk factors during fetal life using a holistic approach involving risk factors at both the micro (individual characteristics) and the macro level (physical and psycho-social context). Given the heterogeneity of the Breton territory in which this work was conducted, we explored whether the impact of social inequalities and the physical environment (air pollution) on birth outcomes (fetal growth and the risk of prematurity) could be modified according to an urban or rural place of residence. This work was based on data collected as part of the Breton mother-child cohort PELAGIE, which had included 3421 pregnant women between 2002- 2006. The anthropometric parameters and gestational age at birth were measured by medical personnel at delivery. We defined urban and rural areas according to the definition of “urban units” from the National Census Bureau (INSEE). The annual concentrations of air pollution (nitrogen dioxide (NO2)) were estimated using a land-use regression modeled at a 100 m scale and developed as part of an European project. Finally, neighbourhood deprivation was estimated using a composite index developed at census blocks level and whose use was legitimated over both urban and rural areas. Neighbourhood deprivation was associated with an increased risk of infants with fetal growth restriction, only for women living in rural areas. We also observed an increased risk of preterm birth associated with NO2 concentrations > 16.4 μg.m-3, only among women residing in urban areas. The associations between air pollution and fetal growth, although sex-specific, did not seem on the other hand, to vary significantly according to the urban-rural spectrum. This work confirms the need to explore the influence of both social and environmental inequalities on intrauterine development, and to assess the role of place-based factors, such as the urban-rural context, in shaping these inequalities.

Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Elsevier Résumé : International audience CONTEXT: Chlordecone, an environmentally persistent organochlorine insecticide used intensively in banana culture in the French West Indies until 1993, has permanently polluted soils and contaminated foodstuffs. Consumption of contaminated food is the main source of exposure nowadays. We sought to identify main contributors to blood chlordecone concentration (BCC) and to validate an exposure indicator based on food intakes. MATERIAL AND METHODS: We used a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) completed by a sample of 194 pregnant women to estimate their dietary exposure to chlordecone and compared it to blood levels. In a first approach, chlordecone daily intake was estimated as the product of daily eaten quantity of 214 foodstuffs, multiplied by their chlordecone content, and summed over all items. We then predicted individual blood chlordecone concentration with empirical weight regression models based on frequency of food consumption, and without contamination data. RESULTS: Among the 191 subjects who had BCC determination, 146 (76%) had detectable values and mean BCC was 0.86 ng/mL (range < LOD-13.2). Mean per capita dietary intake of chlordecone was estimated at 3.3 microg/day (range: 0.1-22.2). Blood chlordecone levels were significantly correlated with food exposure predicted from the empirical weight models (r=0.47, p<0.0001) and, to a lesser extent, with chlordecone intake estimated from food consumption and food contamination data (r=0.20, p=0.007). Main contributors to chlordecone exposure included seafood, root vegetables, and Cucurbitaceous. CONCLUSION: These results show that the Timoun FFQ provides valid estimates of chlordecone exposure. Estimates from empirical weight models correlated better with blood levels of chlordecone than did estimates from the dietary intake assessment. Géodiversité sous-marine de la Nouvelle-Calédonie. 2ème partie Auteur(s) : Collot, Julien Patriat, Martin Rouillard, Pierrick Samadi, Sarah Gardes, Lionel Pelletier, Bernard Loubersac, Lionel Éditeur(s) : Neidine Editeurs Résumé : This article of the number 10 of Tai Kona is the natural complement to the article appeared under the number 8, dedicated to the submarine geodiversity of the New Caledonian EEZ. The first article notably put the bases of knowledge on the history, the origins and the specificities of the geodiversity of the maritime spaces of the New Caledonian EEZ. The present article focuses on four of the major stakes which are put: 1/ the scientific ones relative to an exceptional submarine geologic context, 2 /the economic ones connected to such a favorable geologic context and to mineral resources exploitation perspectives which are no more domain of the utopia, 3/ the major environmental ones with the existence of a semi deep and deep major biodiversity and 4/ the stakes on the natural risks of a zone in the active local or regional seismicity. The conclusions of this article underline all the major challenges, in the interface of four main quoted questions, which New Caledonia must know how to raise. Cycle du mercure en estuaire, baie de Seine et pays de Caux Auteur(s) : Laurier, Fabien Éditeur(s) : Université de Paris 7 Résumé : The Seine estuary and its adjacent region Pays de Caux are two significant sources of mercury for coastal marine environments. It is carried through fluvial means for the Seine bay and through karstic fresh water emergences for Pays de Caux's coastal area. Mercury cycle in the Seine estuary and bay is affected by additional anthropical activities. The estuary's maximal turbidity area acts like a trap and a chemical reactor for fluvial mercury. Within this area, we can confirm: (i) the non conservative behaviour of dissolved mercury; (ii) mercury enrichment of particles when comparing the Seine's and marine environment and we suggest mercury particle redistribution from the organic fraction to the oxyhydroxydes fraction. A large fraction of mercury is exported in this state towards coastal areas. Mercury reduction in surface coastal waters and its atmospherical recycling are major phenomena. Photoreduction and biological reduction play quantitative roles equivalent to total mercury recycling via the atmosphere corresponding approximately to 30 % of fluvial exchanges. We are demonstrating that reactive forms of mercury are supporting photoreduction. Mercury behaviour within Pays de Caux's karst depends of the hydrogeological context of the system (time and flow speed, turbidity, flow); regardless of the speciation and/or partition in underground waters, the total amount of mercury in intertidal areas is quantitatively the same as in the Seine estuary. Mercury brought through intertidal emergences (karstic exudations) is not « filtered » by a maximal turbidity area and is more widely bio-available for mussels than in the Seine estuary. Even being free from growth factor influences through simple models, mussels found in Pays de Caux still show one of the highest mercury contamination on the French coast; for the first time this places the emphasis on how much mercury is brought from underground waters to the coastal environment. Surface complexation modelisation tests are able to reproduce the major part of mercury partition in the Seine estuary and bay if a very low mercury exchangeable fraction and minimum complexation parameters are taken into account; thermodynamic calculations also suggest that a strong or highly concentrated « dissolved » ligand must be present in the water in order to compete with chlorocomplex formations and explain our measures. Changement climatique, conséquences potentielles pour la biodiversité ichthyologique et pour la pêche côtière en Guyane française entre 1970 et 2005 Auteur(s) : Bernard, Caroline Résumé : Preliminary analysis of the impact of an environmental change on ichtyologic fauna marinates and fishing in Guyanese water enter within the framework of the program CHALOUPE (dynamic Change of the exploited marine biodiversity and the viability of the Fisheries) coordinated by Ifremer Cayenne and financed by the ANR (National Agency of Research). The study focuses on:
-analysis temporal variations of various environmental parameters (sea surface temperature and salinity, the phenomenon El Niño)
-fish physical characteristics (tolerances of temperature and salinity, maximum height, distribution…)
- analysis of the unloadings per unit of effort of the inshore fishing and an economic analysis of the selling price of fish
Data are found on data bases and are given by scientists. The statistical studies and the cartographic representations show that there is an increase in temperature of water in Guiana since the end of the Nineties. The model AquaMaps® simulates the potential consequences of this reheating on the fish distribution. Certain stocks of fishing are weakened. For the moment, if the composition of the captures of inshore fishing changes, that seems more due to a change of fishing strategy than due to an impact of the climatic change. In addition, the average value of the capture increased for reason commercial. Métiers, effort and catches of a Mediterranean small-scale coastal fishery: The case of the Côte Bleue Marine Park Auteur(s) : Leleu, Kevin Pelletier, Dominique Charbonnel, Eric Letourneur, Yves Alban, Frederique Bachet, Frederic Boudouresque, Charles F. Éditeur(s) : Elsevier Science Bv Résumé : The overexploitation of fishery resources has led to a major fisheries crisis. In this context, artisanal fisheries, and in particular small-scale coastal fisheries, appear as relevant alternatives for a sustainable use of coastal resources. Marine Protected Areas (MPA) are more and more used as management tools for these fisheries, as protection effects and targeted access regulations may benefit to commercial fishers. Managers and scientists need then quantitative information not only to adapt their management to the fishing activity present on their territory, but also to estimate the effects of MPA management on it. This study provides catch and effort estimates that are essential for appraising and managing the artisanal fishery in the Côte Bleue Marine Park (CBMP), a French Mediterranean MPA including two No-Take Zones of different age and size. A field protocol was defined and implemented between July 2009 and June 2010 within the CBMP. Seven métiers were identified and characterized by target species, gear type, fishing grounds and fishing periods. During the one-year studied period, 3512 fishing trips and 4645 fishing operations were performed by 30 active boats in the Côte Bleue fishing territory, amounting to 9500 km of immersed nets. In total, approximately 130 tons of catch were landed in the six CBMP harbors, out of which 58% depend on the three main species caught on the Côte Bleue: hake (Merluccius merluccius), gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) and common sole (Solea solea). The presented methodology could be part of a long term monitoring requiring close collaboration with local fishers. It enables adaptive management with respect to changes in fishing pressure (from inside and outside the MPA) that may impact the environment and its resources. An overview of chemosynthetic symbioses in bivalves from the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea Auteur(s) : Duperron, Sebastien Gaudron, S. M. Rodrigues, C. F. Cunha, M. R. Decker, Carole Olu, Karine Éditeur(s) : Copernicus Gesellschaft Mbh Résumé : Deep-sea bivalves found at hydrothermal vents, cold seeps and organic falls are sustained by chemosynthetic bacteria which ensure part or all of their carbon nutrition. These symbioses are of prime importance for the functioning of the ecosystems. Similar symbioses occur in other bivalve species living in shallow and coastal reduced habitats worldwide. In recent years, several deep-sea species have been investigated from continental margins around Europe, West Africa, East America, the Gulf of Mexico, and from hydrothermal vents on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. In parallel, numerous more easily accessible shallow marine species were studied. We here provide a summary of the current knowledge available on chemosymbiotic bivalves in the area ranging west-to-east from the Gulf of Mexico to Marmara Sea, and north-to-south from the Arctic to the Gulf of Guinea. Characteristics of symbioses in 51 species from the area are summarized for each of the five bivalve families documented to harbor chemosynthetic symbionts (Mytilidae, Vesicomyidae, Solemyidae, Thyasiridae and Lucinidae), and compared among families with special emphasis on ecology, life cycle, and connectivity. Chemosynthetic symbioses are a major adaptation to ecosystems and habitats exposed to reducing conditions, yet relatively little is known regarding their diversity and functioning apart from a few "model species" on which effort has focused over the last 30 yr. In the context of increasing concern about biodiversity and ecosystems, and increasing anthropogenic pressure on Oceans, we advocate for a better assessment of bivalve symbioses diversity in order to evaluate the capacities of these remarkable ecological and evolutionary units to withstand environmental change Biogeosciences (1726-4170) (Copernicus Gesellschaft Mbh), 2013 , Vol. 10 , N. 5 , P. 3241-3267 Droits : Author(s) 2012. National diploma vs local employability : a french paradox at work in Guadeloupe. Auteur(s) : ODACRE, Elisabeth Delcroix, Antoine Auteurs secondaires : Centre de recherches et de ressources en éducation et formation (CRREF) ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) The Caribbean Academy of Sciences Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : International audience The French education system remains highly centralized and only allows limited local adaptations for overseas territories. For example, if some laws (the last in 2013) allow the use of regional languages (e.g. Creole in the French West Indies) when they constitute a relevant contribution to the teaching, many official texts remain mainly based on the geographical, economical, historical, environment of the French mainland. We focus on some French BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur / Advanced Technician Certificate), namely tourism and assistant manager, which are two important diplomas for the local development and in which microeconomic and management sciences plays a great part. The French BTS is a professional diploma prepared in two years after the “baccalauréat”, with national programs and evaluation criteria. The successful candidates are supposed to be immediately employable, especially in their local geographical environment. Thus, there exists a paradox between the national definition of the diploma and the local contexts of teaching. We discuss how teachers concretely deal with this situation on a day-to-day basis. Our hypothesis is that they act pragmatically, using their practical pedagogical content knowledge, without theoretical support for their action. In order to verify this hypothesis, we have conducted semi-structured interview with Guadeloupian teachers of the two aforementioned BTS. The main results shows that teachers adapt the national framework of the diploma, essentially by using local examples. This can be called a weak contextualization of the national texts. Indeed, these adaptations remain limited by fear of disadvantaging the students for the national exam. In addition, many context effects are shown, for example linked with local rules (concerning VAT, custom duties...) which are only partially taken into account by teachers. This demonstrates that the French educative system has not yet completely solved the opposition between national guideline and decentralization of the educational action. 19th General Meeting and Biennial Conference “Harnessing Science and Technology to create knowledge-base Economies and preserve Caribbean Ecosystems” Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago hal-01535045 https://hal.univ-antilles.fr/hal-01535045 | Partager |
An experimental study of the brittle-ductile transition of basalt at oceanic crust pressure and temperature conditions Auteur(s) : Violay, Marie Gibert, Benoit MAINPRICE, David Evans, Brian Dautria, Jean-Marie AZAIS, Pierre Pezard, Philippe Auteurs secondaires : Géosciences Montpellier ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) - Institut national des sciences de l'Univers (INSU - CNRS) - Université de Montpellier (UM) - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD American Geophysical Union Résumé : International audience The brittle to ductile transition (BDT) in rocks may strongly influence their transport properties (i.e., permeability, porosity topology ...) and the maximum depth and temperature where hydrothermal fluids may circulate. To examine this transition in the context of Icelandic crust, we conducted deformation experiments on a glassy basalt (GB) and a glass-free basalt (GFB) under oceanic crust conditions. Mechanical and micro-structural observations at a constant strain rate of 10(-5) s(-1) and at confining pressure of 100-300 MPa indicate that the rocks are brittle and dilatant up to 700-800 degrees C. At higher temperatures and effective pressures the deformation mode becomes macroscopically ductile, i.e., deformation is distributed throughout the sample and no localized shear rupture plane develops. The presence of glass is a key component reducing the sample strength and lowering the pressure of the BDT. In the brittle field, strength is consistent with a Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion with an internal coefficient of friction of 0.42 for both samples. In the ductile field, strength is strain rate-and temperature-dependent and both samples were characterized by the same stress exponent in the range 3 < n < 4.2 but by very different activation energy Q(GB) = 59 +/- 15 KJ/mol and Q(GFB) = 456 +/- 4 KJ/mol. Extrapolation of these results to the Iceland oceanic crust conditions predicts a BDT at similar to 100 degrees C for a glassy basalt, whereas the BDT might occur in non-glassy basalts at deeper conditions, i.e., temperatures higher than 550 +/- 100 degrees C, in agreement with the Icelandic seismogenic zone. Highlighting Context Effects in a Pedagogical Innovation on Geothermal Energy in the Caribbean and North America Auteur(s) : Anjou, Claire Forissier, Thomas Jacqueline, Bourdeau Fournier, Frederic Mazabraud, Yves Auteurs secondaires : Centre de recherches et de ressources en éducation et formation (CRREF) ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) Laboratoire d'Informatique Cognitive et d'Environnements de Formation - Téluq, l'université à distance de l'UQAM (Centre LICEF - TÉLUQ) ; Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) Géosciences Montpellier ; Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (UAG) - Institut national des sciences de l'Univers (INSU - CNRS) - Université de Montpellier (UM) - Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Éditeur(s) : HAL CCSD Résumé : International audience The purpose of this study is to identify links between the geothermal context and the conceptions in different initial teachers training, from the Caribbean and North America. The Caribbean Islands are located in a subduction zone, creating a great potential for geothermal energy. In Guadeloupe, this potential has been harnessed and a geothermal power plant produces about 5% of the local demand for electricity. It is called high temperature geothermy. In Quebec the bedrock mainly consists of ancient Precambrian rocks from the Canadian Shield, which does not allow for electricity production. The geothermal heat is used to regulate the temperature in buildings, to create spars, to grow crops and other purposes. It is called low temperature geothermy. This design-based research (Sandoval, W. et Al., 2004) takes part in the contextualization of sciences education research works (Blanchet, P. et Al., 2009, Anciaux, F. et Al., 2013) and in the continuation of the Gounouy project (Fecil, S. et Al., 2014). A project-based learning on geothermal energy has been set up with two groups of initial teachers training from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and from the French West Indies University (UA). The purpose is to create collaborations between each group in order to enable them to encounter, recognize and formulate their conceptions. Further, they will collectively elaborate a more complex understanding of conceptions about geothermy. More specifically, the design used in this experiment aims to highlight context effects (Merlo-Leurette, S., Forissier, T., 2009). Context effects are pedagogical events occurring when there is a clash between the different conceptions of students, observed uring courses regarding different problematics related to geothermal energy. Communications via videoconferences were arranged so that the counterpart teams may discuss their investigative findings. Videos from the exchanges have been collected, as well as weekly summaries about student’s accomplishment, ideas, questions and feelings. Pre-test and post-test questionnaires on geothermal energy were submitted at the beginning and at the end of the project, to compare conceptions before and after the learning process. Collected data enables to bring out the student’s contextuality. Therefore, they highlight context effects, due to the differences between the geothermal contexts in Guadeloupe and in Montreal. This study is supported by the Geotref project. Impact de la crevetticulture calédonienne sur l'environnement : état des lieux, recherche de traceurs des effluents et définition d'un programme de recherche pluriannuel Auteur(s) : Lemonnier, Hugues Thomas, Yoann Legrand, Alexandre Martin, Jean-louis Herbland, Alain Résumé : In the booming context of shrimp culture in French Caledonia, some research actions need to be considered in order (i) to make sure this production will not impact the quality and biodiversity of the coastal environment it is contingent upon (ii) for the field to highlight, based on objective bases, its good "environmental image", for an efficient commercialization of its products. In the framework of the MOM project, a number of actions have been carried out: Action 1: A bibliographical synthesis of the impact of shrimp culture on coastal environment has been conducted, taking into account the works carried out throughout the world and in French Caledonia in order to draw the main issues the Territory will have to deal with. It seems necessary to start with an assessment of the future and the impact of the effluents on the coastal environment. Action 2: With this aim in mind, one or more indicators, among the lagoon's environmental variables, of the influence of the farms' rejects on the coastal environment, have been searched for. The first results are presented in this report. Action 3: In parallel, a long-term program taking into account the different aspects of the problem in its entirety and complexity has been defined in relation with our partners in French Caledonia. With this aim in mind, a symposium entitled "Ecosystems and shrimp culture", organised by the Ifremer in French Caledonia, with the support of the IRD, was held in Nouméa from June 22nd to June 24th, 2005. This symposium enabled the drawing out of the research perspective on the benthos, on the functioning of the lagoon ecosystem, and on the evolution of the mangrove swamps subjected to organic matter inflows from farms. In this perspective it is usual to build authentic teaching by implementing a process of investigation rooted in a particular ecological context. Previous studies have described the effects of context as events occurring in a learning situation when two participant bring contrastive contexts. But these context effects were never filmed in science learning. We postulate that the effects of contexts can be considered not as a limit to learning but as an asset. In addition, we believe it is possible to build science lessons based on their emergences. The objective of this internationnal project called gounouy is to build an educational innovation for recording and description of effect of context and their interest in learning. It involved four research laboratories (two in Guadeloupe CRREF and LARGE, two in Quebec LICEF and GDAC) and two schools. In a design methodology based research, many direct and indirect data have been collected. They are constitute by videos, student productions, digital items (vidéoconférence and digital workspace) and interviews with students. The results show two different types of expression of context effects and different learning indicators. Adaptations and limits reuse of this new type of education will be discussed.Following a design based research methodology, many direct and indirect data on learning situations have been collected. Géodiversité sous-marine de Nouvelle-Calédonie. 1ère partie Auteur(s) : Collot, Julien Patriat, Martin Rouillard, Pierrick Pelletier, Bernard Loubersac, Lionel Éditeur(s) : Neidine Editeurs Résumé : The object of this article is to offer a synthesis of the knowledge clarifying the originality and the diversity of the submarine geological formations of the New Caledonian EEZ. A reminder is given onto the geologic history of the region, based upon the dislocation of the Gondwana Continent, the opening of the Tasman Sea, the presence of submarine volcanism, the setting up of heavy peridotitic rocks, the building up of the Fairway and Lord Howe Ridges and of sedimentary basins, the formation of volcanic domes and sea-mounts or guyots, the subduction along the Vanuatu Trench, the uplift of the Loyalty Islands, the development of carbonated ptatforms around the islands etc.... Of this complex history ensues an exceptional submarine geo-diversity. After this presentation the article clarifies the methods and the tools used in marine geosciences to map, explore, observe, analyze, sample, that they are embarked or are autonomous, teleoperated or inhabited systems. A chapter describes the programs which were set up since about forty years and the results obtained as well as the scientific teams concerned with. In conclusion, based on the unpublished character of this geo-diversity, the article introduces the second text to come in a next issue of theTai Kona magazine, text which will focus on the scientific, economic (mineral resources), environmental (deep biodiversity) and risks (seismicity) challenges that are worn by one of the most original submarine geologic context in the world. Guide méthodologique pour l'élaboration des dossiers de demande d'autorisation d'Installations Classées pour la Protection de l'Environnement (ICPE) en matière de pisciculture marine pour la région Corse Auteur(s) : Roque D'Orbcastel, Emmanuelle Sauzade, Didier Ravoux, Georges Coves, Denis Résumé : Sea fish farms with production of more than 20 tons per year in France must obtain two operating licences: (i) one for Sea Farming (AECM), with the aim of ensuring that the granted site and use of the maritime public domain for exploitation will respect all restrictions of general interest; (ii) one for regulating Facilities Classified for the Protection of the Environment (ICPE). Although the first one requires a relatively simple licence request file, the second one demands a very complete file, which includes, beyond the notice of exploitation information, a complete impact study, as well as a hazards study and a health and safety notice. In this context, petitioners in Corsica (adjustment of status or new exploitation) are faced with the same difficulties, which highlighted the need for a methodological guide adapted to each region's specific situation, assembling in particular the necessary baseline data (legal, zootechnical, geographical, climatic, socio-economic, ecological...) as well as recognised methods for evaluating the potential effects of the farm on the environment.
Development of this guide was supported by ADEC and supervised by a steering committee composed of representatives from the administrations concerned, fish farmers and scientific bodies. The significant aspects dealt with the effects of fish farming on Posidonie herbarium, a protected species very present in Corsica and with coordinating the two AECM and ICPE procedures.
For each part of the ICPE file, the guide introduces the technical or scientific context and, depending upon the case, the state of the art, sources of available data, acquisition and methods of acquiring measurements and of assessing the potential effects, as well as practical editing recommendations.
Finally, the guide is made complete by a model schedule of conditions designed to help petitioners to have a specialist research department incorporate all or part of the file.
This guide primarily concerns first-time marine facilities for exploitation in Corsica, conceived of as in the open sea rather than in confined spaces. Nonetheless, any fish farmer or future fish farmer needing to process a request for an exploitation licence may find it useful.
Environmental tools such as Marine Protected Areas have been proposed to protect biodiversity, restore damaged ecosystems, sustain fisheries, and rebuild overexploited stocks. The effectiveness of marine protected areas depends in part on the maintenance of connectivity between marine populations, linked by ecological processes such as larval dispersal. In this thesis, we applied a biophysical model driven by ocean currents derived from satellite altimetry to evaluate connectivity between Western Indian Ocean reefs and across the current MPA system in the Mediterranean Sea. We applied different methods of analysis such as graph-theoretic and clustering. In the Western Indian Ocean, marine connectivity analyses show that the number of connections between reefs increases with fish pelagic larval duration. It also highlights a low connectivity across the region and a high interconnectivity within several regions (Mozambique Channel, Mascarene archipelago). In the Mediterranean Sea, connectance is globally low at the regional scale. This connectance is more important in Western than Eastern Mediterranean. Moreover, the marine connectivity analyses revealed high domestic connectivity rates. Depending on the study area, priority reefs or sites for MPA implementation are proposed. Finally, implications for transboundary marine policies and regional cooperation are discussed.
Citizen Education to hazard mitigation is much more important in French West Indies than in Paris. With national, curriculum, evaluation and textbooks, how science education in French West Indies manage the challenge to take account this particularity of our territories? Based on this example and others, the aim of this communication is to present a science education theoretical background focus on contexts studies. During science teaching, learning effects due to different context like social, cultural or language could be described as contextual effects. But others micro-didactic effects of contexts could also be identified as linked with specificity of natural environment. These effects manifest a strain between a goal of teaching or learning and its implementation, when this stain is due in the educational process in different contexts involved. To ensure the quality of education, reference and quantify the effects of educational context seems to be necessary. it should be interested in the process leading to the emergence of these contexts. We propose a simplified model of these processes initially described as meetings of mechanisms operating within a network of transposition of designs. Then we question these processes by degree or forms of contextualization (low to high) and crossed these two approaches, giving an initial typology of contextualisation process. It then emerges the idea that these processes are constrained by resistances. We retain the following three: epistemological, social and educational. As these constraints are expressed in different ways according to disciplines, the data suggest the existence of disciplinary contextualization profiles. All these three approaches (network implementation, degree of contextualization, disciplinary profiles) are three tools for analyzing contextual phenomena which remain to test the robustness and operational character for the training analysis context.
